Longleat on the cheap

Hi Everyone,
We'd really like to take our son to Longleat as he loves animals so much but it's sooo expensive, £53 for 2 adults and a child, and when you add on petrol and food its going to make it over £100 for a day out which we just can't afford.
Does anyone know of any offers/vouchers for Longleat we could use?
Thanks in advance
Dave

Option 1:Try the Salisbury tourist office last year I got some vouchers from them last year. Here's the link
http://www.salisbury.gov.uk/leisure/tourism/tourist-information-centres/salisbury
Option 2: You could wait until later in the season sometimes people sell part used Passport tickets on e-bay then you just buy the attractions you need.
Option 3: Is to save Tesco Clubcard vouchers £4.75/£3.75 in vouchers for Adult/Child passport tickets so £13.25 in vouchers for the three of you.
Option 4: Get your son to try to get a Blue Peter badge free entry for him then with a full price adult passport purchase.
Option 5: Consider West Midlands Safari Park £8.99 ea adult or child. Plus you can go back and do it ALL again in the same car before the end of the season. Personally I think the Safari Drive is much better than Longleat. Plus there are static Zoo type attractions, a sealion show, a big hippo pond (v.smelly), mini train and some small fairground rides(NB extra charges for these rides).
We ended up doing Longleat once plus West Midlands Twice last year, exhausting!0 -
wow thanks, all of those suggestions sound great ideas!
I'm a bit worried about taking my car round, I think at Longleat you can go round with the rangers in a jeep maybe? Do they do anything like that at WM Safari Park?Do not speak- unless it improves on silence.0 -

Longleat has a bus at an extra cost (£3 ea I think but don't hold me to it), or you can take a diversion to avoid the monkey enclosure. I don't recall any bus at WMSP but have a look at http://www.wmsp.co.uk . The worst animals at WMSP were the emus believe it or not. A tip is don't do the safari drive in either place as soon as you get there because everyone does that and it gets very busy in the morning. Leave it to the afternoon and you then have space to get out of the way of any livestock, although we didn't have to.0 -
I may be wrong but I have a feeling I read the bus at Longleat is reserved for those on foot or with soft top cars. I was considering going with a hire car, but was a bit worried about damage.
Check it out as I may have read it wrong.0 -
Thanks, I will :-)
A hire car, now that's an idea. Can you picture taking it back covered in wild animal poop and bits of lion hair with all the wing-mirrors and wipers missing and a monkey on the roof :rotfl:Do not speak- unless it improves on silence.0 -
Yeh davet, that whats worrying me.........the excess does not cover window or trim damage or tyres. I have visions of returning it with all the bits in the boot!!
I really wanted to see the monkeys as well.0 -

We went on the mini bus the the first time we went to WMSP - its a couple of pound extra per person from memory. It was good fun although the guy driving the bus liked the sound of his own voice a bit to much for me and kept picking on people in the bus to ask them questions, make jokes etc!
It was good as he took you really close to animals that had gone right awy from the road/track but the next time we went we took our car round -no problem with the animals (no monkeys there!). Our daughter LOVED going round in the car as she was allowed to sit in the front with us (and "help" Daddy drive!) which when she is always in her child seat in the back was almost as much of a treat as seeing the animals!!
Great to get a free return ticket so you two days out for cost of one.MTC NMP Membership #62 - made it back to size 12 after my children & I'm staying here!0 -

On one of those TV real-life police progs a while back they pulled over a motorist with no rear number plate. He told them it had been pulled off by a monkey in the local wild life park - they let him off !0 -
