Call the local tax office and drop them in it
They have no rights in taking any amounts of your invoice
You are a sole trader not a contractor/sub-contractor so you do not need to give them CIS detailsHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
Call HMRC cis helpline (0845 366 7899 - open from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm, seven days a week.)
They should only make the deduction from the labour eliment, not the materials eliment (and maybe only with prior arrangement). The CIS helpline should be able to help.baldly going on...0 -
Thanks Andy and Baldy.
Apparently they've spoken to their accountant who said she shouldn't have done it but to leave it as it is now and he'll sort it.
Something about 22% tax (I thought it was 20%) which they would normally pay but now wont have to. But I don't know about the other 8%.
I only know she mentioned 30%, nothing was mentioned about if it was labour or materials.
I'll mention the tax office and the HMRC CIS helpline.0
