Insurance for a 19 Year old but on a 1.8 Merc?

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have just been lucky enough to get a Mercedes Benz C180 (1.8) litre car and I need to find good insurance for under £1000.

Can anyone help me as I cannot find anywhere which does it ?

  • If you haven't got any no claims, you've got no chance.

Try going on your parents policy?

I seriously doubt that you have a chance. For comparison, I'm mid 40's never had an accident in my life and my renewal on my 1992 1.8 golf (value about £500) was £200 fully comp.

Can only speak for myself but as an "older" person,i wouldnt get involved as a named driver on a new drivers policy as it has a good probability of ending in tears.

Can we please stop with the suggestions to illegally front the insurance.

AS for the real question, I really think you have very little chance at all of getting anwhere near that, although where you live can make a bit of difference as does whether it is garaged securely over night etc,

My 21 year old son is still being quoted over £1000 for a C3 as he has no no claims, (never owned his own car before) and we live at a London address which makes it high risk apparently.

Does that make it all right to do?

Suggesting the OP commits an offence is stupid, not only would they be open to a conviction, but could invalidate there insurance.

What would be the point of paying insurance, even if it is under a grand a year, if they won't pay up?

You may as well tell the OP not to bother with insurance at all.

i never said it was right, just that to come on here and comment that it's illegal gives the impression you run the risk of being criminally convicted. Which is wrong

If you take out 3rd party only insurance then what exactly are they "not going to pay up"??????

"You may as well tell the OP not to bother with insurance at all." now that would be illegal and silly advice;)

It is fraud and it is not to be suggested as a serious idea on here.

Sell the car, buy a cheaper one, use the rest of the money to pay the insurance for that car. Win win tbh.

that is your opinion and you are entitled to it. but you fail to answer the question - if, as you claim, this is illegal, then has anyone ever been convicted of this specific "crime"?
