Orange contract problems
Hopefully, someone will be able to advise me on what action to take with Orange.
I took out a contract with Orange from the Carphone Warehouse in November 2005, on the website I filled in my bank details to agree to a direct debit on the phone. Carphone Warehouse offered cash back if I send in some invoices to them.
I received the phone and didn't use the sim card. In December I received an invoice from Orange, confirming the direct debit. At the beginning of February I wanted to start using the minutes I had accrued on the orange sim card but couldn't find it. I contacted Orange who have no details of me and advised me to go to the Carphone Warehouse. I did and they advised I was registered but it was Orange I needed to speak to.
I checked with my bank and no direct debit had been set up, also Orange have put on my credit file that I have missed a payment. I sent a letter to both companies with a copy of the invoice and a cheque for £140 to cover any monthly fees I have not paid (have now paid well over what is due, to avoid further bad entries on my credit file). Three weeks later, I still haven't received a reply from either company but they have cashed my cheque.
I am now paying for a contract phone and do not have the sim card, do not have any invoices to reclaim the cash back offer from carphone warehouse.
I contacted experian about the entry advising them it was not my fault they didn't set up a direct debit. They say Orange have advised them the information is correct.
I would be very grateful, if anyone could help me.
