the isle of white shop does not state that they are copies as they have made them and no where does it say they are designer etc, also they are their own pics on dummys. So I suposse they can do it as they are there dresses and not pretending to be anything else, they dresses also dont have any names.
However if you go onto millies birdes then go onto the maggie sorreto you will see they have directly taken the pics from her site. Hope this helps x

If they are their own pictures how come they are exactly the same as milly's? Milly's pictures are not lifted straight from the designers, this is Landy.

Take this dress and this dress for example. You can tell this is exactly the same picture.

I'm not having a go, it's just got me thinking as I was under the impression that the pictures on Milly's website were pictures of dresses actually made by them?
  • sorry no idea I thought the millys had people in the images, I have no idea then

This company is on eBay too. If anybody is thinking of purchasing from them it might be a good idea to pay on ebay through Paypal for a little extra protection. The dresses they had on eBay were beautiful, one was a lovely burgundy, huge thing with pinched in bits on the skirt, gorgeous.

What is the E-Bay user name or shop name?

    Thanks!

tbh, i wouldnt be surprised if they are ordering in dresses from Milly/Landy and selling them. That way people who are a bit wary of buying from overseas, will be tempted.

The likelihood of the designer going after such a small outfit on grounds of copyright, is prob worth the risk of making some money. However, unless they are trying to sell counterfeit goods, ie copies pertaining to be originals, there isnt really any law other than copyright that they are breaking, and again, one tiny change in detail, would be enough to 'skirt' this law

They have two ids on ebay island-elegance and discount-wedding-dresses

Their T&C state all dresses are made by established bridal manufacturers, they do not state anwhere, they are originals

Just had a read through of T & C there too. Be careful, the company believes it can say no returns. Under the distance selling regulations, I believe they can't say that. A buyer has 7 days from receipt to return an item. And as it's not stated on their site, they have to refund postage both ways too (that's how I understand the regulations, please check for yourself of course!).

Not that I think you'd have any reason to return the goods, but the law says you don't need a reason..

I'm sure they're a great company, never heard bad of them. It gets rid of the worry of dealing with overseas if you're going down the route of a lookalike dress.
  • hi it does state this on the site though last october they opened a shop up and I had my dress altered as I didnt want the straps and the lady who owns the shop did say if i didnt like it she would refund me and sell it in the shop so maybe email and ask before buying

There is another 'UK' company on Ebay that does this but you have to be reading the small print! It states that the dresses are shipped (directly, if I remember correctly) from overseas (can't remember if it states China but I don't think so). I bet alot of people have ordered not realising that the company are ordering straight form Milly/Landy etc. Like you say, some people are wary of buying from overseas.
