Maternity Wear

  • I got mine in Peacocks and ebay. Towards the end though, I outgrew maternity clothes. I wore a sarong, a pair of stretchy size 18 tracksuit bottoms (I am usually a size 8-10) and extra large men's T shirts, from charity shops.

Charity shops are good - stuff is really cheap so you can afford to make mistakes. There's also usually maternity stuff there - as people donate it after they've finished. I bought some awful maternity trousers, but dyed them black and they were ok.

My best investment has been a belly band. It was a fiver from Topshop and it's a strip of black lycra that you wear over your unzipped regular pants to hold them up. From the outside it looks just like a vest top.

It's genius. I'm 22 weeks and still using it.

also i bought a few cheap boob tubes from primark (£1 each), wear around the bump to cover unbuttoned flies, and also can then be worn with non-maternity tops to cover bump exposure!

I thought i was a genius when i 'invented' this.... only to be told about the belly band :rotfl:

My baby is nearly 3 months, & I wear them now (didn't get on well with them after 20 weeks- bump didn't like to be restricted!). I got one in black & one in white. No, my belly is not that big still :D , but it keeps me warm & covered up when breastfeeding. I did buy a couple of breatfeeding tops, but found them expensive & ugly (mostly).

Hi im 39 weeks pregnant and to be fair this pregnancy i have only brought 2 or 3 tops and just undo the top button of my trousers and put a belt on. But if i were you as suggested by others shops such as asda i think are pretty cheap and wash well. dont buy loads of expensive stuff as it really aint worth it. also depending on where you live the mamas and papas outlet stores are quite good for maternity wear especially work wear, when i was last in they had loads of stuff for a fiver- and we all know that mamas and papas can be ratehr expensive. Outlet stores there are only a few of them the only one i have been to is in newcastle under lyme, staffs not sure about the others , hope this helps. :)

Ebay is great for maternity wear you get so little use out of somethings you buy they are practically new and you can get really good bundles which can take you through the whole pregnancy for about £40 with postage. :-)
