I have still not received any details of their compensation scheme and payments and the longer this charade goes on the more likely I am to involve the CCW.
I've used 26 units in the last year, since mine was fitted (I just went and read it). They take £15 from me each month, but that must be way over my bill ... I don't bother opening them mostly, I've not had the meter read for 9 months. I just figure I'm bound to be in credit and at some future point (when I leave) it'll all get sorted out in the final bill.

Now I'm a smidgeon confused. I've just read Cardew's latest reply on a different thread (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1725593) and he suggests that average meter usage would be 120 per year.

This would imply that my usage is pretty much spot on.

PasturesNew, are you saying that you've only used 26 metres in a whole year?

It's been some time since my last update but I now have a couple of months meter readings to refer to.

My wife and I (there are just the 2 of us) are out all day, 5 days per week. We have the usual standard appliances but no power shower or use of a garden hose etc.

My 2 months meter readings are approx 10 cubic metres a month (and we were away for 1 week this month). This seems high to me considering Welsh Water's estimate for 3+ people is only 119 cubic metres.

I've carried out the 'turn everything off leak test' and all appears to be ok.

What's going on here? Is our consumption unusually high?

Your water usage is about right to be honest. Maybe the average 3 person Welsh family are soap dodgers...

Your bill for 120 cubic metres per year will be around

    Water (120 x £1.3671) +
    Sewerage (120 x £1.5833) +
    Water standing charge £32 +
    Sewer standing charge £74
    = £460 or around £38 per month

(assumes you are on main sewer and surface water drain)

No probs Llyllyl - happy to help. I'm glad you still keep your correspondence with you. You can send a copy of those correspondence to CCW too and they will take your complaint and do all the hardwork on your behalf. After you've done so, just relax and hope for the best result. Good luck:cool:

    Final update.

I have now had agreement from Welsh Water that they will backdate my meter readings for the past 4 years and reimburse the difference. Just waiting for the cheque now ;).

    Thanks for all the advice.
