Lots of photos to scan - how and best way ?

I want to put all my old photos, pre digital onto CD and that is ALOT of pictures. Is the only way to do it to get a scanner and spend days scanning them all ? Am I living in a dreamworld to think that there is a machine to do it for you ? ;) Also, is a stand alone scanner the best, or do the 3 in 1 machines do a good job…

Get the kids to do it! My kids love old photos and videos of the family. My eldest did a great job of scanning it a couple of albums. Only problem is there any boxes full of albums still to go. Must try and get them enthusiastic about it again.
