Another Option Other Than BT For Line Rental!

As AP says, the line rental is going up from £9.75 to £9.99 for those with online billing. Onetel are not currently barring access numbers, but I suppose it's only a matter of time before this happens...
My point was that not everyone needs access to third party providers or caller display - I currently use neither of these facilities as I have full CLI on VOIP-in numbers, as well as cheap/free calls. Personally, I just need cheap line rental.
As I said in my earlier post, if you require CLI and access to third party providers, you're definately better off with BT as things stand at the moment.0 -
I switched to one-tel for my business phone, great for a while calls were cheaper but the line went down, had to make calls to an Indian call centre who could not understand what I was saying, they could not do any diverts on my phone and I was left with no business phone for 4 days.
We only got it back on then because hubby is an ex BT manager and called in some favours.
After loads of screaming by me I eventually got £30 compensation, I hate to think of the money we lost because new customers could not get us.
I would seriously consider switching to one-tel they save you money yes but when you have a problem and no phone they don't have a clue.
Also I think they may have just recently been purchased by Carphone Warehouse0 -

If you read this thread your see you cant sign up for OneTel,and yes it says in this thread that OneTel are now part of Talk Talk (CPW).
Even if you could sign up for them i dont see how you could beat BT for your line rental.1899 for peak calls(Just 3p a call to 01/02) ,and Primus Saver 2 for FREE 01/02 E&W calls.0 -

I don't think I quite put that right what I was trying to say was:-
Consider before you switch if you have a problme they won't want to know, and although I found it was cheaper this is not always the best option when you don't get the service back up
We moved straight back to BT0 -

I've had no problems with OneTel CS, they've certainly dealt with any queries I've had, being particularly helpful when I've contacted them by email.
All line faults reported via any line rental operator have to be dealt with by BT OpenReach (who operate and maintain the infrastructure) without prejudice - this is being monitored closely by Ofcom, as has been reported on MSE before.
If you have a problem with Indian call centres, bear in mind that BT have also now contracted call centres in Asia.
The issue with these call centres (including OneTel's) is that they are operated by third party companies, and the employees often have a limited knowledge of the business and limited training, which is a problem when you have a query which is not easily resolved.0
