if a car is sold illegally ie not saying it was accident damaged which it was then surely you can expect to be compensated...especially seeing as it hasnt even got the wheels bolted on:eek:
if he knew that is, most cars in their life have a knock or two
and the wheels falling off 3 months after purchase will be hard to pin on the bloke who sold you the car three months earlier0 -
i have bought an accident damaged car..... there are four categories to the extent of the damages... a,b,c and d
a-must never be returned to the roads
b-parts can only be used off the car
c- can be returned to the roads...
d- can also be returned to the roads...
there is more to c and d something about the insurnace will and wont pay for the car to be repaired....
also if the car id category d it will NOT be on the logbook about it
if its category c it WILL be on the logbook...
my car is category d and has caused me no problems in the 6 months ive owned it... however the seller of the car should have told you it was damaged....as my seller told me0 -

Trailer? Car transporter (the flatbed things which hold 1 vehicle, like recovery companies use)? Simple and easy to use.

Irrelevant. the Sale of Goods Act states it's the retailer's responsibility to prove that the fault was down to buyer's misuse as long as the purchase was made less than 6 months ago.hewhoisnotintheknow wrote: »if he knew that is, most cars in their life have a knock or two

The dealer was asked a specific question and is obliged to answer it honestly. If he didn't know, then the honest answer would have been "I don't know". Seems a bit odd that the dealer is so confident about it not being in an accident and yet has conveniently lost the log book.
OP, the car is probably not fit for purpose. Take it to CAB.The pen is mightier than the sword, and considerably easier to write with.

Sometimes dealers will give you 7 days free insurance when you purchase a vehicle off them. This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.0 -
TBH i think the OP will not make much progress here.
The bottom line is that you should always follow your instincts. The instinct was not to buy the car. Why is it that people buy cars in the same way that they form useless relationships?
The talk about accident damage will go no where as the guy will deny it and it isnt documented.
As for the loose wheel, who is to say when it became loose?0
