Carphone Warehouse is stalling over my PAC: tips, please!
I am switching from an O2 contract with Carphone Warehouse and moving to O2 Simplicity (SIM only). I turned down CPW's retention offer, even though it sounded good, because what's sounded good in the past has turned out to have so many qualifications and restrictions that it's not worth it.
My previous contract with CPW expired at least six months ago. Problem is they're stalling over sending me my PAC. Initially they said it would take 3 days, once they'd received a letter requesting the code; I sent one the same day, first class. It took two calls for them to acknowledge they had received the letter. They assured me the 30 days' notice would now kick in, and I would be sent the PAC by text within 2 to 3 working days. (Apparently they require 30 days' notice, even if your 12 months contract has run out.) I think I've had about 3 contacts with CPW since the letter was sent. Every time they've assured me the PAC would be texted to me, but zilch.
I am feeling used, frustrated, indignant and angry and would very much appreciate having some tips on how to insist they give me the PAC on the spot.
Many thanks!

Formally complain.
They have to provide the PAC within two working days of receipt of the request. Ring them, ask them to provide your PAC immediately (they can actually do it there and then most of them)
If you don't get it whilst on the call tell them they are in breach of Ofcom's porting process rules and you will be lodging a complaint with Ofcom.
When you call the call centre for your PAC before you mention anything about that get the person's full name. If they won't give it or full name ask for their extension or a ref no specific to them. If they don't give you that ask for their manager's name and so on. If you have that and threaten with Ofcom...and reference to their CEO... you'll get the PAC.
To prove you have the email address and are not bluffing Ask them to confirm it ie say "this is (it is) CEO Charles Dunstone's email addy isn't it"?
(remove space after the @ ... if you use it that is )

You will never receive a PAC as you cannot port your number from 1 O2 contract to another O2 contract. Or rather, you might still get it, but you won't be able to use it for this purpose so there is no point with it. You can only use PAC's with different networks, or between a contract and pay & go. You should have upgraded if you wanted to keep your number.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

what you can do is get your PAC and then port over to a voda/t-mobile pay as you go, then when that port has completed use the credit as it`s non refundable and then request your PAC again, you can then port over to 02,
It`s a bit if a chore, but lets face it your it`s not a great deal of effort and you then get the deal you want.0 -
If its CPW direct then there is no trouble at all moving the number over because they are different service providers and you do not have to take it to voda or anyone.
If you are on the same service provider then all you do is ask it to be migrated to PAYGWork like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -

That seems to clear that up then. How come I couldn't transfer my number when planning to cancel with O2 direct and go to P4U? O2 told me that it wasn't possible....Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0 -
Because you would have been on the same service provider. P4U just sell the contracts but o2 manage them all so you would have had to migrate out out to PAYG and then back in to o2 on your P4U contract.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0
