Just how much did everyone get
I got £315 as net interest in the passbook which agrees with my expectations within a pound. Saved the full £250PM, all deposits early in the month except for one which was very late. Took out £5K in December 08 and closed mid March 09.
Additional cheque £107.
but :j anyway! Do Money Saving sites make you buy more bargains - and spend more money?0 -
Just how much did everyone get, as it seems LBS have a very strange way of doing their calculations judging by my passbook which arrived back from them a few days ago.
It's littered with duplicate monthly credits followed by withdrawls of those same credits which I didn't make and then at closure it has 7 lines of confusing transactions adding and then subtracting interest. Obviously some of that is tax, but the rest ?
I never saw the cheques as they banked them for me and I must say how efficient and quick they were.
Total Net Interest £480 (opened 19th March £250, followed by 24x250 arriving at LBS between 1st-4th each month)
No such problems here, I opened the account with £250 on 15th March 2007, then made 24 additional deposits of £250 by standing order. My passbook just shows the 25 deposits, plus three interest payments (£139.75 the first year, £314.31 the second year, then another £0.13 for the last few days), and the tax deductions.0 -
This morning's post brought another letter from the Loughborough, telling me that the additional cheque was issued in error, and that I should destroy it as it has already been stopped.0

The same thing happened to me: yesterday I received a cheque and to-day another letter telling me it had been sent in error and stopped.
Don't some banks charge for presenting stopped cheques?Dagobert0 -
Same here

Oh well, easy come, easy go!
Hopefully the YTS lad / lass @ the Loughbrough has been given a sound telling off before being sent back to BS school. (That's Building Society school in case anyone thought I meant anything else)
Do you think they know calculators are 99p in Wilkinsons now?:rolleyes:Do Money Saving sites make you buy more bargains - and spend more money?0 -
I've just checked my records and the exact dates / rates are...
start 8%
1.8.07 8.25%
1.1.08 8%
1.3.08 7.75%
1.5.08 7.5%
1.11.08 7.00%
1.12.08 5.50%
1.1.09 4.5%
1.3.09 4.25%
I also had the mystery handwritten check for an extra £135.68 followed the next day by the letter saying not to cash it. By my records, I agree that it was erroneous.
I've checked my own figures and they match to within a few pence of what I was expecting. First year was £141.93 and second was £315.10.
Account opened with £250 on 21.03.07, followed by 24 payments of £250 at the beginning of each month, give or take a few days.0 -
According to my calculations using InMyDreams' interest figures I was overpaid by £14.70 in 2009.Dagobert0
