Loughborough r/s Plus 1 - historical rates

Does anyone know the historical rates for this account?

I opened the account in March 2007.

Bank of England Rate plus 2.5% if I recall correctly. Assume Loughborough changes rates the 1st of the following month, then we have

    March 2007 5.25 + 2.5 = 7.75
    June 2007 5.50 + 2.5 = 8.00
    August 2007 5.75 + 2.5 = 8.25
    January 2008 5.50 + 2.5 = 8.00
    March 2008 5.25 + 2.5 = 7.75
    May 2008 5.00 + 2.5 = 7.50
    November 2008 4.5 + 2.5 = 7.00
    December 2008 3.0 + 2.5 = 5.50
    January 2009 2.0 + 2.5 = 4.50
    February 2009 1.5 + 2.5 = 4.00
    March 2009 1.0 + 2.5 = 3.50
    [April 2009] 0.5 + 2.5 = 3.00

Rate only fell by 0.25% on 1 March 2009 to 4.25%, April actual rate (not talking about change to the guaranteed rate) hasnt been announced yet as far as im aware ;)

  • Yes, I got an handwritten cheque for just over £100 from them today. The interest I had received when I closed the account was slightly higher than what I had calculated, so it was completely unexpected.

Here are the interest rate changes from my own records:
    13/03/2007 8.00%
    01/08/2007 8.25%
    01/01/2008 8.00%
    01/03/2008 7.75%
    01/05/2008 7.50%
    01/11/2008 7.00%
    01/12/2008 5.50%
    01/01/2009 4.50%
    01/02/2009 4.00%

Well, if it's not just me then it must be correct!

I'll try and work out the figures tomorrow just out of curiosity.
I got slightly more than I was expecting in the closure cheque as well.

Rate fell from 4.50% to 4.25% on 1 March 2009 as highlighted in earlier post so the above record is incorrect. ;)

Has anyone saved a copy of the T&C's for the account - paperwork they sent me didn't include it and I didn't save the web info?

Just how much did everyone get, as it seems LBS have a very strange way of doing their calculations judging by my passbook which arrived back from them a few days ago.
It's littered with duplicate monthly credits followed by withdrawls of those same credits which I didn't make and then at closure it has 7 lines of confusing transactions adding and then subtracting interest. Obviously some of that is tax, but the rest ?

I never saw the cheques as they banked them for me and I must say how efficient and quick they were.

Total Net Interest £480 (opened 19th March £250, followed by 24x250 arriving at LBS between 1st-4th each month) which seems about right to me.

I queried my interest which was about £130 short. They corrected and paid an extra £135 odd. Looks like a Monthly Saver is beyond their system capabilities.
