Further to my posts above:
13th April: Rec'd letter from the Valuation Tribunal saying that they had received my appeal and they would notify me regarding a formal hearing.
Today: Rec'd a letter from my local VOA office saying that my house has been re-banded (down) by one band - effective from 1st April 1993 !!!
Reason given:- "to correct an inaccuracy in the Valuation List, caused for example, by a clerical or valuation error".
The VOA letter has been copied to my local council - wait and see what response I get from them - I estimate that I have overpaid more than £2000 since the intrduction of the tax.
It has taken three and a half months since I first wrote. I must say that the local VOA office were very helpful - each time I wrote, I got a formal rejection letter from them, this was accompanied by another letter telling me how to appeal against their rejection.
I can honestly say now - if you find you valuation is wrong write and tell them
