Going to the National on 04.04.09 and going to the cheapest stand (Steeplechase enclosure)!
Was wondering if you can take your own alcohol with you there? I have been to other races such as Chester and were allowed to take your own supply but unsure what the rules are with Aintree?
Thanks

Just checked our tickets and the answer is no. They are going to search your bags, you are not even allowed to take in a picnic with you:mad: . Dont know if the drinks are expensive when in the race course. Was going to try and put some vodka in a coke bottle but dont think it is going to work now.
. Never mind, may be I might be lucky and win.

As always, it's a loophole if it benefits you and a scam if it doesn't.From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -

Thanks for the replies.
Just received my tickets aswell and says on them that you cant take food or alcohol in, but I know last year one of my mates did take wine with them and no one said anything??!
Don't know if they are stricter this year, we will have to wait and see!!0 -
At Chelteham, during the Festival, they carried out quite detailed bag searches. Last year, I saw one bloke who "smuggled" in a case of Fosters! I think they have tightened things up?
The Steeplechase enclosure is basically a hill, with a few food vans and tents. I hope your not expecting too much there? A little tip for you! After the big race, loads of people will leave the main enclosures and cross the course coming your way. At this point you will be able to just walk through into Tattersalls and enjoy the remaining card (2 races) in the thick of it!
We once drove into Aintree and got directed to park in the "Vets" spaces. So we just walked in without paying. Another time my sister in law had a runner and was supposed to leave our name for "Owners and Trainers" badges. When we got to the hut, the old lady couldn't find us on the list. She just handed over the badges (unlimited access, free meal, etc). When we met up with my sister-in-law, she admitted that she had neglected to put us on the list as they had left in a rush.0 -
With the Bomb scare 12 years or so ago they are pretty hot on security, bag searches will happen so I imagine rather than spending £20 on a cool box and another £50 filling it will be better off having £35 E/w on a horse and eating like royalty for the afternoon "Man invented language to satisfy his deep need to complain."

Fill a couple of baby bottles with vodka or you could go the mouthwash bottle trick where you mix a little food colouring in or a water bottle hidden in a pocket.
... sorry product of improvisations on our 6th form trips:o"This is a forum - not a support group. We do not "owe" anyone unconditional acceptance of their opinions."0 -
From past experiences (I live just down the road) the bars are about £3 for a beer which isn't a bargain but not as bad as some events you go to!0

MancBrel - You said hope you dont expect to much from the Steeplechase enclosure? All Im hoping is to be able to see some of the racing, place a few bets and few drinks really, is it really basic is it? Thanks for the tip too!!
LondonDiva - I was thinking of doing this, but if there gonna search you twice!!
mattarmy - If it's £3 for a beer then it's not so bad, been too some events and they charge £4 +!!0 -
No worries - they are very strict on searches and they have a metal detector too so it's going to be hard to sneak anything in!
I never went last year but the year before it wasn't shockingly expensive as some events can be so hopefully they haven't put the prices up! I'll be going on the Saturday too so I hope not!!!0
