HM Biscuits for Cheese

Hi Been out for a lovely lunch at my friends house, she as always has loads of food on and we could'nt start on the lovely cheese board she had through being stuffed. She asked if I wanted the cheeses to take home and wrapped them up for me. I was wondering if there are any savoury biscuits I could make. I know they are cheap to buy but if I have the stuff in I could make my own. I have made oatmeal biscuits before with just water and porridge that i ground up but if anyone can think of any more I would be grateful”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)

I'd like to make some 'melt in your mouth' type cheese biscuits to take along to friends tomorrow evening. Does anyone have a tried and tested recipe please? I've got mature cheddar and some fresh Parmesan cheese in the fridge.0

this sounds like a great idea to add to the christmas catering, anyone got a recipe? I have lots of oatmeal (or 'gritty stuff' as the family call it. Parkin was 'ginger cake with gritty stuff') in the drawer, so that would be a good addition."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

I was wondering about using a cheese straw recipe. Want to make some with my grandaughter this afternoon as she can't wait to use the Christmas tree cutters (she's nearly 2.5 so that should be fun)!0

Cheesy Biscuits
Makes about 20 small biscuits
50g SR flour
25g butter/marge
80g grated mature cheddar ( I sometimes use half this amount of cheese and they're still yummy)
splash of milk
Mix all ingredients together and knead a little until you have a ball
Roll out to about 2mm and cut into shapes
Bake at 200c/Gas6 for about 8-10 minutes until they start to colour
The original recipe said to add 20g Parmesan and a pinch cayenne pepper too but they’re just as yummy without.:A0 -
PLease help save me from myself ! My local farm shop sells some DELICIOUS cheesy biscuits and whenever I go there I am sorely tempted and then eat the whole packet. I have tried to make them; the ingredients on the pack say:'wheatflour, butter, cheddar cheese 24%, sundried tomatoes 3% tomato puree 3%, but when I tried thay all fell apart. Does anyone have a recipe for a biscuit like this - they are thin and melt a bit like savoury shortbread studded with tomato bits - completely delicious but wickedly expensive and I ought not to buy them ever again.:o0

Hi morganlefay,
They sound delicious! Could any of the recipes in this thread be adapted to add sundried tomatoes and grated cheddar?

What about using the Twink's HobNobs recipe without the Golden Syrup?
8oz SR flour
8oz oats
8oz margerine
1 tbsp water
1/2 tsp bircarb
Melt marge and water in a pan or microwave on "defrost" and add to the dry ingredients. Add your sun-dried tomatoes, finely grated cheese and puree. Spoon the mixture in teaspoon-sized dollops onto a greased baking sheet and flatten with a fork. Bake at 180 degrees Centigrade/350 degrees Fahreheit for 15 minutes.
I'm sure the absence of the Golden Syrup has an effect on the texture but I have a feeling that it would turn out OK, not that I've ever made this recipe without it myself.
Or this one from my recipe book for Flaky Cheese Biscuits:
4oz butter
4oz grated cheese
1 egg yolk
Pinch of salt
1/2 teaspoon paprika
4oz flour
Cream butter until fluffy. Gradually beat in the cheese, egg yolk, salt, paprika and finely chopped sun-dried tomatoes. Chill in fridge for one hour.
Knead for 3 mins, then roll out to about 1/4 inch thick and cut into 1in circles with a pastry cutter. Put onto greased baking sheet and bake at 220 degrees Centigrade/425 Fahrenheit for 10 minutes or until browned.0 -
Oh morganlefay you have my mouth watering .... I have sundried tomatoes and some appropriate cheese, and that sounds so yum. Also the idea of savoury twinks hobnobs really appeals. I will have to experiment this weekend!"Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0

Does anyone have a link to some savoury cracker/biscuit recipes please - the simpler the better!
Can now make bread and also fruity muffins, but need some savoury nibbles/biscuits to go with cheese and veg. pate etc....
Found some online, but most were either in cups (I steer clear of cup measures whenever I possibly can) or very complicated.0
