Robbing Peter to Paul, leading to a secured loan for consolidation purposes, this is crippling us now!!

Also buying 'bargains' and ending up with a cluttered house full of cheap rubbish!! doh!!

The above puts me in a really good light doesn't it? :D
A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.

Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

  • Hi,

I think mine is still ongoing - I bought loads of hardbacked really new looking in good condition books from charity shops to sell on amazon. They have been up there for a month and no takers - I've lowered the prices twice and still no takers! There are 17 of them and they are taking up lots of space in my house!

Serves me right - I will probably have to take them back to the charity shop and they can resell them (a good thing) but I'll be out of pocket (a bad thing) - probably serves me right for being greedy.

I've also paid £30 the month for 3 months of adverts in my local free newsletter to offer myself as a babysitter locally - no interest yet - get back to me later and see if this was a money maker or not!

Acquiring a husband. I had no debts beyond a £30k mortgage when I met him.

And the usual consolidation loan/running up the cards again.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

The usual ones for me too: consolidating my consolidated consolidation loan, and transferring the balance off a credit card - then using the card again

A silly one though: after briefly reading the OS board, I decided to water down my shampoo. No matter that I use Tesco's own brand cheapo stuff that lasts me 3 months anyway, I was determined to get double out of that bottle! The shampoo and water wouldn't mix no matter how hard I shook that bottle, and I had to use 3 handfuls of the stuff just to get it to lather. Soap had better effect on my hair! Ended up buying a new bottle and wasting half of the old one. :o

My story is the same as a lot of people on here, balance transferring to 0% cards then running up the debt again.we have learnt a very hard lesson.
  • Done the same thing with books - maybe better response on ebay? Thats where I go first to look for a book and have sold quite well there too.
The babysitter I got had put a card up in the doctors surgery and local shop window maybe try that - be cheaper than a paper.
    good luck!

I gave up jogging for health reasons; my thighs rubbed together and my knickers caught fire!
