Network Locked????????
I was PAYG with T-Mobile, purchased a new phone from Argos on PAYG with Orange network, original mobile number has now been transfered to orange, but when I insert the T-Mobile sim card the new phones is asking for "Network Lock" password!!!!
I've called Orange (In India) had difficulty understanding the guy, but from what I can make out something to do with the network being locked!!!
Any advice please?

It's like trying to put a square peg in a round hole, it won't go
You need an orange sim card or you need the phone unlocked for it to workSealed Pot Challenge Member 1216 -

Why do you want to put the T-Mobile SIM into the Orange phone if you have transferred the number to Orange? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Orange will charge 15 to 20 quid to give you the unlock code (you just top up the sim that came with it with the right amount and they take it off), or you can take it to a local phone shop where they can do for about a tenner...

I had lots of phones numbers stored on the T-Mobile sim, the T-Mobile won't charge up, hence why I purchased another phone, and I can't remember all my contact details, so I thought once the number was changed I could just insert the T-Mobile sim.

You may find it's cheaper to use a SIM card reader than to get your new phone unlocked. e.g. hereAll Orange phones are locked to Orange.
Not true, if the OP had bought the phone elsewhere it could have been an unlocked handset. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Oh dear, are those straight forward to use?
I purchased it from Argos on Tuesday
Sounds easy and it would likely be cheaper than getting the new handset unlocked. More info hereBackup your SIM data on the SIM Tools Backup and restore or copy it to any new card. If you loose your phone, change your provider or use a prepaid card, you don't need to worry about wasting time keying in your address book again! All you have to do is take your new SIM card, insert it and restore the data. In this way, your names and numbers are ready to be used in a matter of seconds. Also with the SIM Tools the user can edit the details of the data via the LCD screen, once the SIM Tools has the data in its memory the SIM card can then be removed. Phones locked to Orange. Do you not know someone with a spare unlocked phone? All you'll need to do is put the T-mob sim in there, copy to phone, put orange sim in and copy from phone to sim. Really is a 5 min job.0
