ray123, please stop making inaccurate claims about contribution-based JSA. It's something you get for up to 182 days for having paid national insurance contributions and there is no means test for it. After the 182 days then only income-based JSA would be available and srg751 would have too much in savings to qualify for that.
Is this available for someone who receives a pension ? I thought all JSA was means tested.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
You thought wrong.
You do need to be available for work and seeking it. Someone who has actually retired wouldn't pass those tests. Retired is a different thing from having an income from a pension, though.

Then you may find a job and get PAYE income and pension income. That seems what srg751 would want to do if he can find a job. The pension bit is just an efficient way to get income out of capital.0

It is not easy to find work in the current economic climate, but it is not impossible. One thing I will say though is that it is easier to find a job if you are already in work than if you are out of it. That is why it makes sense to maybe lower your sights a little and get back into work instead of waiting for the "ideal" job to come along.
You must remain positive - that is assuming you want to work again.0 -

I believe you can still claim for contributions based JSA for the first six months (assuming you've paid the required NI contributions over the last couple of years) but the amount is reduced to take the pension into account.

And unless things have changed since i was a Jobcentre manager the amount of the pension may totally extinguish the JSA0 -
we fear the new people, you should remove the link from your sig otherwise it looks like you are selling something0

Nobody gives a monkeys about Bulgaria. Why don't you sod off back there if it's so good. And stop trying to sell us dodgy property in the middle of nowhere.0
