What speed can my connection get?

Hi folks,

I have a BT land line and am looking at switching broadband providers away from AOL (unless they can sort my line out and give me a new router!).

There are various tools out there to give you an idea of what speeds you could get...

Bt's offering says 6.5 Mbps is the max speed, other sites (eclipse, o2) say 20 but as they are trying to sell me a service i'm inclined not to trust them

Samknows says i am 450 metres (as the crow flies) from the exchange

My line is with BT so I'm guessing they're more likely to tell me the truth?
