Moozle its exactly the same here, gale force winds coming in off the water and that steady drizzle that soaks you right through.

I did get a bargain today tho. There is a centre for recovering addicts in our area and they had loads of those half barrel planters in their yard which happens to be right behind my mum's back garden.

I have been after these for ages and managed to blag 4 for the princely sum of £20! Hubby just has to go and get them as they are currently sat in my mum's front garden.

Really chuffed as I can plant some of my herbs in two of them and the other two can be used for decoration with nice flowers for next to the front door.

Hope you are all well xx

Well DD2 decided not to sleep at all today, but once DD1 and Ds were back from school I could make a start whilst they watched DD2 in the house.
Went through the checklist to make sure all parts were there no problems, we actually have an extra roll of the plastic thier list states 2 enclosed we have 3 lol. If we have some left over (and they haven't just spread the plastic over an extra roll) we can recover the old mini GH that the cover blew off last year.

When OH came in we made a start, took about 30 mins to make the front and back panels of the GH frame, but DD1 and 2 were in the garden with us and DD2 kept climbing over the GH pieces like a game lol. It also took a bit of time to get used to how the bits fit together and the best way to do up the bolts.

The rest of the frame should be quicker, so if we can get a bit of dry time tommorrow want to do the centre section so we can the thing up for weekend. Instructions weren't too bad, could be clearer as the pictures are very small, but once you got the peices in place you can see how they go together.
Getting excited now at the thought of being able to sit in my GH, Oh says we will move in and leave the kids to the house for some peace over the summer rofl.

Well, potatoes are here, just need to put them in the window to start them off (trying to type here with a kitten in season who wants affection, affection and more affection!! lol not easy when she keeps butting my hand out the way of the keyboard to stroke her! :rotfl: )
All of my seeds are now showing, need to get a pot to put the lettuce's in as they've got a bit too big for the propogator and another pot to put the carrots in as they're getting ready for re-potting :)
It's so amazing growing your own stuff, cant wait to try some of it :D Thanks again Moozle for starting this thread, I'd never of thought of half the stuff I'm doing if I hadn't found this thread :) :T

Well my norfolk GH frame is up and screwed down to the base. Just the cover to do so waiting for some dry weather to do it (fingers crossed for later on today if the forecast is correct).
Considering how little it cost it looks really good and is rock solid if you try to shake it :).

Instructions weren't the greatest, but not nearly as bad as people report.

    Hi Moozle
Great thread! I am enjoying reading about everyone's ongoing veggie growing projects.
I am also in Scotland - and am also trying veg growing for the first time. I have built 3 raised beds and am growing tatties in old compost sacks (and 3 fancy potato sacks that I was stupid enough to splash £15 on before I realised they were just bleedin BAGS:rolleyes:)
I planted loads of seeds but wrote the labels in ordinary felt pen - which has all washed off - so now I can't remember what I planted!!:o I know some are carrots and onions - the rest are a bit of a mystery. I also have stuff growing in trays - and dont know what it is! What an eejit I am. I know I planted beetroot and cabbage and purple sprouting and kale but cant tell which is which:rotfl:All well, it all adds to the fun.
I have loads of pots with rocket and mixed salad leaves growing away on the patio. And strawberries and peas. My beans met with disaster. I was hardening them off in one of those plastic 4 tier greenhouse thingies and it blew halfway down the garden in the gales the other night and my beans , so lovingly nurtured, were smashed to smithereens. Have planted them anyway - we shall see what happens ......
I have recently taken delivery of 2 compost bins - cheap from the Council - and DS (sge 8) is loving peeing in them! He enourages his friends to do the same. I am reliably informed that it is the nitrogen in the urine that is good for the compost.
I fancy trying garlic - am I too late to plant any now?
Anyway sorry for the long ramble. Happy gardening everyone
