Got a job:T 3 days a week in a garden centre:D not great money  but fab as its all extra and I should have my polytunnel very soon.:D
Dropped my germinating tray of tomato seeds, very upset.:o
My french beans are germinating and there is sign of my spuds... hurrah!:T
Found a big log whilst out with the dog and its now in the log store as the first one for next winter.;)
To do: Plant more seeds:D
Pot on/plant out french beans.
Make chicken run when wire comes. Chics will be here in another week or so.
Go to job start sunday:cool:Pack and send ebay stuff.
Hope everyones enjoying this fab weather and getting loads done. XXXMum to 3 children, 5 hens, 6 chicks, 6 eggs due to hatch, 2 cats, 1 dog, 9 fish and a husband...:eek:0 -
Hi moozle, hi everyone :hello:
Sorry to hear about your tray of toms - can they not be rescued? I did the same thing with some parsely seedlings and managed to save at least some of them:o
I gave away some small tom plants to friends at work today - and I was a bit sad to see them go! How soft am I? But I did get some raspberry plants and mint in return, so I can't be too sad really!
Slightly alarmed at the size of my dwarf been seedlings already, after planting them only a week ago! They are in very small pots and I reckon I'm going to have to put them into bigger pots in the next day or two. On the assumption I don't plant them out until May, I think they're going to outgrow what they're in pretty fast! lol

Working in a garden centre, Moozle? Fatal, wages wont last long. Bit like the job I had at 15 in a sweet shop
Well done with ebay, I find its rather slow at the moment. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

not posted for a while - but have been busy busy!
Got the first and second earlies started in growbags - first earlies are doing nicely.
Strawbs from Aldi in a strawb planter - looking good - the spring ones have some flowers already.
Tumbling toms in the hanging basket and mini greenhouse.
Rasps in a newly dug bed, with carrots and onions which are sprouting now (although I put ALL the seeds in at once in a fit of excitement....so will have wasteage - doh!)
Beetroot in the ground, and some in the greenhouse.
Sweet pepper in the greenhouse - waiting for some action there. 2 herb pots doing well, and have planted basil too, new for this year. And FINALLY - planted some pumpkin seeds too yesterday - currently on the windowsill....
Having only started with some potatoes and tomatoes last year, I have clearly come on in confidence - have decided just to bash on and learn from my mistakes
Great hearing everyone elses progress. :TFlugellover0 -

Hi Moozle. I love your thread!! Been reading it for weeks and love everyone's gardens. I was just wondering if anyone knows the cheapest places to get a few pots and soil etc I have a couple of places around (Only noticed ASDA doing bagged compost the other week, didn't catch the price though as OH was making sure I went out the Exit without going back in! Lol) I've got a Homebase nearby but wasn't sure if they would be more expensive. Cheers. Sally:idea: Jan 09. You could always ask on freecycle for pots and planters, there have been a lot up on ours lately. For seed trays I use meat or mushroom packaging and the clear trays as covers/clotches.
My local garden centre is the cheapest for compost but I make my own as well and mix it to make it go further.
Good luck!:DMum to 3 children, 5 hens, 6 chicks, 6 eggs due to hatch, 2 cats, 1 dog, 9 fish and a husband...:eek:0 -
Unfortunately I don't have a garden, just a back yard that's been bricked over
So not too sure about a compost bin. Will definitely ask on freecycle and will stop throwing out the meat packaging!!!
thats such a brill idea, thats why I never thought of it lol thank you moozle (now I just need some meat!! LOL)

Had a productive weekend in the garden, got all the raised beds in and some of the paths sorted. Have some seedlings in all ready, but keep running out at night to cover them up lol.
Sadly had a misscarrage over easter, but the gardening has kept me sane by giving me something to concentrate on and enloy with my OH and the kids.
We have been considering chickens for a while OH is very keen, but I worried about noise (even without a cockeral).
OH kept pointing out that on our small block of houses there is a pigeon loft, and 6 dogs and 3 cats so the neighbours could ahrdly complain.
I still was unsure until I recently found out that the house diagonally opposite to us at the back has 4 chickens! Never heard a peep from them, sometimes here the cows and sheep in the fields at the back when the wind is right tho lol.
