I do wonder about the Boots machine offers actually. I use Boots a lot and whenever I put my card in I get fairly ungenerous points offers. I have gone in with friends who rarely go in Boots and massive points offer are lavished on them whenever they use the machine!

I did not win alas and I did not get a coupon for a free reusable bag.

They are giving the good offers to people who don't go in very regularly as an attempt to hook them back in. I think it is the same principal for who gets sent Next VIP slots etc, as quite often very regular customers state they don't get offered a slot. I think the retailers see it as they know some people will shop there loads anyway, so they don't need to try and tempt them. Where as the other customers they need to try and win their custom instead of losing them to other shops.

They'll be using the advantage card data for their own purposes to see who spends enough and on what, and who they need to get to spend more, etc and then offer those people the better deals.

Not a very fair way to reward good custom really.

I agree with you - it's the same with me...extra points on stuff I've no interest in or nothing at all and it's very annoying when friends tell you what they've got via the machine...that said, even though I didn't win the points, it won't stop me shopping at Boots...;)

I went into Boots on Saturday. Didn't know about this offer. Didn't use the Extra Offers machine but did use my card to claim Advantage points at checkout. Bought £37 of stuff and the checkout girl said "Have you tried the machine today? You might have won £10 in points." So I tried it after paying... and I won! I wonder if she could tell my card was a winner?

It's not a con, I actually won!! I never use the machine and whilst I was there printed off the coupons from the machine to use at a later date!!

Thanks for posting this, I haven't seen it advertised anywhere else so without this website I wouldn't be a winner

yes, some posters were right. i hardly shopped in boots, checked machine today and won 1000 points. also extra gift and points for buying any product of a brand that i recently bought a few items from. marketing trick but i am well chuffed.

Went into St Peters Retail Park, Mansfield in my lunch break - checked in my card and won too...... S.A. said it was the first winner she had processed :j
