unlocking laptop

hiya all wonder if any one can help my sons locked up is laptop the last thing that he did with it was put music on it from is mp3 players any ideas anyone

Need some more info really. Do you mean it has crashed (screen has froze) or your son has locked it and you dont know the password?

windows comes on then freezes

Did he have to install any MP3 player drivers?

Does it boot into safe-mode? Keep pressing F8 on bootup, choose safe mode.

Just so u know when you are doing it, if it does boot into safe mode without locking up it points at a software problem.

So, if all is well with safe mode your laptop isn't dying. Its just windows that got out of bed wrong.

yes tryed that mate were in safe mode got all the stuff back on the laptop so far so good any idea wat next

we have got the laptop on but are unsure wat to do next we have it on safe mode

Next thing I would do is look in add/remove progs for anything that could of been installed just before it died.

Look for MP3....

removed is mp3 music out of add/ remove programmes now wat

Try reboot it, this time leave it to boot in normal mode, see if it locks up. If it does lock up then we need to try something else....
