    Translation of 'chavvy'??

I think what the OP wants is a park that is more geared to normal respectable families who don't have a need to go on holiday with 20 or 30 of their relatives with all the accompanying shouting and screaming and people who don't need to say "F*ck" in every sentence in public.

In this case I would avoid most of the larger parks run by Haven etc.

  • The whole nature of 'holiday parks' for 'cheap' is that they attract vermin on holidays booked through The Sun for 10 pounds.

    charming as ever!

Can anyone comment on this subject?

We've been to Centerparcs Longleat, expensive, not chavvy, any comments on anywhere else? We might go somewhere over Easter. Would like some child-friendly features.

Well, we went to Centreparks Longleat and found it distinctly 'Chavvy'! (although it is not a term I generally use, I know what you mean by it). It was overcrowded, with mainly large families who let their (screaming) kids run riot, lots of equipment was broken or just not available, it was understaffed, communal areas not clean, and activities always ran late. The best thing about it was the spa area, which I have to say was lovely, but not good enough to tempt me back to CP Longleat any time soon!

TBH we've done a few Sun Hols and found them to be less 'Chavvy' than you might expect (although we do try to pick our parks carefully as we prefer nice scenery and quieter areas).

If you want lots of activites for kids though, you tend to have to go to larger parks, but if you can 'make your own fun' as it were, then why not hire a hol. cottage or stay on a farm park, especially if the £££ is not an issue?

What about the newly-opened Bluestone here in Pembrokeshire?
I think it's aimed at the 'better' end of the market and is eco-friendly too.
    (Sorry, can't do links.)

We went there and it was overpriced and overcrowded, but the clientele were very much middle class Daily Mail readers.

www.pinelodgeholidays.co.uk - pinelodges in Derbyshire. Pools and small play areas on site for kids, you'd probably need to go out and about for more to do but nice, quiet and relaxing for adults :) We went to Darwin Forest for four nights at end of Feb.

  • We are just back from a weeks stay at Haggerston Castle and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I am by no means a "chav" and nor do I swear at my 2 daughter's. I am sure there is a wide range of people from different backgrounds no matter where you go. Center Parcs included.

Is it the elite and non chavvy that go abroad then?
