    @ Rikki

Not being cheeky, but could u explain why. please ....

I have no intention........... sounds like you've got your arms folded and are being definite.

I am not intending.......... sounds like you are not actually looking to leave before then but not so aggressively.

    I like smk77's wording.
or scrap that bit completely and start with:

I will be working up to...

    It's firm.

.... By giving you advance notice, hopefully this will give you adequate time to find a suitable candidate to replace me ....

As they have already found a replacement could i reword this a little bit?

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's too late to stop reading it ....

Personally I wouldn't. You can complicate matters too much.

I would just use the original letter with amendments suggested. You are sending this working on the leaving date you have advised.

Sooner rather than later as they are looking for her to leave after next week.
She need to clarify her intentions and make them aware she has some knowledge of her rights.

Tell her to take it today! And she doesn't need to mention the fact they've employed someone else, as that's their problem if they want to pay two lots of salaries!!

Let us know how it goes.

ps - as for letter writing, it wasn't a bad effort for an engineering geek :)

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Yep, she's taken it today. Will keep you posted all along. Say she gets nothing before next Friday, what's the best course of action?

She should carry on going into work as normal, and do nothing that would get her sacked! They might try to discipline her for unauthorised absence (sp??) otherwise!

She should also make an appointment to speak to CAB if she has any issues.

Hi Guys/Gals .... She's already got a response through the post today!!

It doesnt look good for her. Letter states '.... after speaking to ACAS directly, you are entitled to two weeks notice. You do not have a written contract; therefore a statutory notice period applies ..... 20/3/09, in which you were given a 2 week notice of termination'

I think thats it, thanks for you help ppl.
