iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinteresting... Egg loan - egg can't find it...

Now this has me giggling... I have an Egg loan which I have a DD going out for and I manage online - never missed a payment - EVER...
Applied for an Egg card a little while back (got rejected, but that's neither here nor there) and in order to apply they had to temporarily "hide" my details or something so I could apply online - was supposed to come back as soon as I had applied...
Now... my pregnant brain can't recall if the loan details ever DID show up again but it's entirely possible they didn't... DD however has continued to be taken (and not returned) so wasn't hugely bothered to be honest...
Today i was having a little tidy as is my habit (ok ok so I'm verging on obsessive compulsive) and realised I still couldn't see my loan balance... Imagine someone walking across a compulsive cleaners shining clean white marble floor and you get an idea of how much it bugs me...
So I sent a mail off to Egg support saying basically look can you please fix whatever it is so I can see my loan balance thanks muchly...
and this is what they sent me back:
Now what do we all reacon the chances are that Egg have actually deleted my loan completely from their systems and them not being able to ever trace it again? (if that is the case I am spending £100 on lottery tickets this week!!!!!)
I am now also torn between giving them any details about the account (in the hope that they won't find it!) and giving them the reference on the DD... I suspect I will follow the little voice in my head that nags me to be honest and give them what details I can - but boy am I hoping they have accidently completely deleted forever off their systems! Oh what a wonderful day that would be!!!

I've thoroughly checked your account and can see no record of any Egg Loan would this have been held in maiden name?
Please reply to this message with an account number if you have it or any details you can find about the account and I'll be happy to reinstate your loan on to the website.
Thanks for your message.

Typical - spent ages typing a response to them (disgustingly honest one too... lol) and their system is having problems and can't process my secure message please try later... ARGH! So will now have to retype it at a later date... maybe tomorrow if I feel enthused enough...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

I know someone that had a £10k Egg loan disappear, they went to pay it one day and it just wasnt there any more, Egg couldnt find it and Egg said well, if you had a loan we would be able to find it, so you must be mistaken. Bizarre!0

Hey ho youNow what do we all reacon the chances are that Egg have actually deleted my loan completely from their systems and them not being able to ever trace it again?
I'm not saying it's been passed on, but who knows.
The only way to find out is to do an SAR request.Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.
All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional0 -
Well, that seems really silly!
To be honest I would probably give them all the info they need to 'find' the loan (not that they deserve to!) because I would not like to spend the next few years worrying they'll pop up and say 'hey! you stopped paying your loan a few years back. Cough up now... and by the way have a CCJ and a default on your record you naughty girl!'. Or, y'know, words to that effect!:D0 -

hi, OH used to work in the egg loan servicing team and says this is a common issue...but doesn't understand how the person you spoke to didn't get it!!
what they have done is create a dupplicate account with your previous/current details in, so the system would let you apply for a card. this is sometimes necessary, then the two folders (old details and new folder) you have are merged back together. OH says try calling them again and say it is a dupacc and ask them to sort it. you could also try logging online again but put dupacc- before your surname. (thats how they hide it..alter your surname)
hope this helps a bit
lastly...sorry to give you the bad news but he says they haven't lost it!!!0 -
Very interesting. Makes you wonder doesn't itNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130

oooh, i hope that hasn't happened accidently even though you've been paying! oooh errr:eek: definitely would sort it out
well if it has then they are in for a whole new world of painI can prove the payments have left my account on time and without fail and so far there has been no "OMG you've defaulted/been late on a payment" on my credit record
I AM crossing fingers and toes they have deleted the loan by accident though! OM how great would that be :rotfl:
And don't worry i am keeping ALL correspondance so that if they DO come back in years to come then I can easily prove that I have tried to resolve the issue and tried to pay...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
