08 plate, but done 20 miles on the clock
Hello
Found a Citroen at the official dealership. It's an 08 plate but has done "delivery miles" of 20 miles. Apart from that its a brand new car for £6500.
Is this a good deal? I`m just wondering why its registered in 08 but hasn`t been sold etc, any ideas? Thanks

Nice to see your still as helpful as ever.
Don't really know a lot about citroens myself but have a look on auto trader or ebay and see what they are going for on there and compare.0 -
Someone was asking why a car hadn't sold. i'm just speaking from experience of 14 years in the motor trade...0

So Citron/Dealer could say they had sold loads of cars but did not really!0

Dealer pre-registered them to make their targets for 08plates?
You would be 2nd keeper on logbook then in this case. Therefore not "new" as such.

as said above, prob pre-registered to put dealership sales totals up, and reach targets. But hasnt sold, due to no-one wanting it, because of colour, spec, price
Even though its registered 08, that still means it could be just over 6m old, so not that long to have hanging around in a showroom, but prob longer than they were expecting
Which model is it, because £6500 seems quite cheap for a citroen, as they tend to be overpriced

It's a common thing in the dealerships to pre register cars before certain dates to get bonuses etc. It's basically the same car but as it's registered and not technically "brand new", bargains can be had. But if you plan to resell it quite soon you could lose out on depreciation due to the car being "slightly older".This won't be an issue if you plan to keep it some time.0

what kind of citroen is it?Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0

At that price probably a C1, and until today I would have said go for it, unless you could get a brand new one for a similar amount because the period of warranty on the nearly new car is shortening daily.
Unfortunately, my wifes 06 C1 with less than 16k covered now needs a new clutch!! £550 thank you very much. So the C1 she has been planning on buying this July to replace the 06 one, is now going to be something else. I tried telling her that wear and tear happens to all cars , but not really with much conviction, as this is a ridiculously low mileage to have to replace the clutch. All the cars she has had in the past have never even needed a clutch replaced in all the time she had them.
Based on her C1 my Focus , which I have driven 31k+ in the last 12 months would be on its third.
Rant over..........well until tomorrow0 -
Bill get in the car and check if she is riding the clutch. I was collected by an Enterprise driver today and couldn't believe he was riding the clutch until he got into 5th gear then his foot rested on the floor.0
