Good deal?

I'm sorry to have to start a new thread on this, I have been following this forum for the last month and looking on the comparison websites offered, but am still very confused.

I am currently with orange, but not very happy whether, I am on a 100 anytime cross network minutes and 50 texts for £15 month deal, but I am regularly paying £40 per month, as I am using around 200 minutes per month, I would like the option to have more minutes though, as I would like the option to make more calls when I am out and about.

My contract expires tomorrow. I have tried several times to "batter down" my contract with orange, with NO success, they are just not interested in getting me a better deal.

The most attractive deal I have seen so far is this one with o2, it's an 18 month contract

400 minutes anytime, cross network and 150 texts ( I only use about 50 per month)

http://shop.o2.co.uk/shop/o2uk/jsp/tariffs/viewTariffDetails.jsp?prodID=consumer:Q3:05:O2:online:200:basic:talker:18M:mms

with a sony ericsson 3G phone.

I do need a new handset, so that rules out SIM only deals, and I go on holiday with friends in europe and the US where we text each other to arrange meeting up, which is why I have chosen a triband handset but I don't make calls back to the UK much, otherwise vodaphone would have been a more attractive option.

I am wondering though - is this a good deal, as 18 months is quite a long time commitment? I am happy to leave orange and take my number across, did this before when I left Tmobile to go to Orange. The thing that puts me off TMobile is that all their deals only last until you upgrade the handset.

I am somewhat wary of the claiming cash back schemes, having read these forums. It also seems that other people are having problems with orange customer service.

I would really appreciate some advice as I am VERY confused!!!

Many thanks

Don't know if T Mobile would agree to reinstate their 'today only ' offer of last week for 14.50pm for 18 months 300 mins plus free SE 750i phone or 16.50pm for 300 mins and 100 texts. Not on their website anymore.
18 months is a long time to be linked to one operator in such a competitive market, plus didn't someone post (somewhere!) on these forums that TMobile were coming out with some great 12 month deals in March or did I dream that in hope?
