Malaria Tablets

Has anyone taken Malaria tablets to go to India. You take 2 a day and you cand buy them in Boots not persciption. Do the side effects, (Headaches and stiffness in the shoulders) go away in the 1st week as we have to take them for 6 weeks. Any help appreciated

yeah, i had some and they made me really achy. When i took them i felt sick! :-(

I took Paludrine (2 a day) and Avloclor (2 a week). they come in a combined pack. Took them for 8 weeks and had no side affects. Done this 2 years in a row now.
BTW, see this thread for a place that does discount malaria tablets. They certainly worked out cheaper for me.

No good to you (but maybe usefull to others) I stock up with DOXYCYCLINE at BOOTS in Bangkok for a 1/5th of the price they cost here!0

I am off to India tomoro but don't take any as I don't like how I feel with them.

I guess it depends where in India you go (being a big country and all of that). In the main cities like Mumbai and Dehli, I don't think you need to worry about malaria tablets.
In terms of which ones to take it would be better to consult a professional, but it GP or pharmasist, as they would know better than us lay people.

Yes I agree. My daughter takes them all the time and never has any problems.
They say you need different ones for different areas as some mozzies are becoming immune or somethingtravelover0 -

My GP advised us that malaria tablets are necessary for all parts of India.0 -
