An old thread dragged up again but having just spoken to someone at Freehold Managers PLC in London (when I eventually got through) the girl I spoke to was very reasonable and waived the 2nd admin charge that had been added to my invoice but having learnt my lesson I'll pay on time in future :0)0

I have been fighting these people for over six months. They originally sent me an arrears for ground rent Iasked them to prove their legitimacy. They did although were demanding monies (very rudely) that I had paid to my solicitors when originally taking possession of a leasehold property. My solicitor has sent them proof that all monies were paid. They are stll persisting and now have threatened court action. I am tendering a counter claim and can't wait. I am going to get the Directors details from Companies house and serve the paperwork in person by an associate. I have asked him to film it so we can put it on youtube. I am then going to put the link on every single blog that will cover all possible subjects. Everyone can then see who's really behind this company.0

I have had problems with this company since we tried to remortgage our flat in 2007.
They are impossible to deal with. I have paid every bill and not once has a receipt been sent dispite a sae enclosed as they request.
I was forcing them to take me to court, but i have found that they have written to my mortgage company saying i am in arrears.
I am going to fight them as I have done nothing wrong, but any advice assistance or similar stories about them may help my action.
If you have experiences with them I would be grateful if you would get in touch.
Cheers

This company have very bad practices. I own a flat where they are the freeholder. I bought plot 13 renumbered to 14. (13is unlucky) I paid ground rent on number 14. they then sent me final demand for ground rent on number 13 even though it didnt exist, demanded admin fees for late payement etc . It took ages to sort out and at one point they threatened to put it in the hands of debt collectors.
They have recently sent me a demand for payment to consent to sublet. There was no claue in my lease, they then tried to say it was because they needed to check insurance.
They have since admited that it was an automated letter they send to owners whose correspdance address does not match the property address. Its totally unproffesional, but probably means they get money from some owners who just pay up without reading thier lease or challenging the demand.0 -

Hi all
I recently moved and this lot (from the London PO Box address - SE1 is Southwark if I remember right) were in touch demanding 12 years' arrears of Chief Rent on my new house.
I was talking to my solicitor about other things and she said that (1) get proof they are entitled to the rent (ie are they named on any paperwork anywhere) and (2) in law, they are only able to claim up to 6 (six) years' arrears.
So far, they've not been able to prove that they are entitled to my dosh (it's only £1.20 per year, but it's the principle!) and they are trying to convince me that because the lease & Land Registry entries say that "someone" is entitled to claim the rent, that they are the ones I should pay up to.
I get the impression (from this & other forums) that they are on very shakey ground and rely on people's ignorance and fear to make them pay up.
Until they satisfy the principle condition of proof of entilement, they ain't getting a penny.:p

I have done research and ask around. Freehold Management plc is a
shell company with very rude, vile mannered staff. Their main money
making is to hold freehold and collect ground rent. If you are the land
lord of the leasehold, and rent to tenant, youwill be further charged for
"subletting fee", nearly double your ground rent.
Barbarism is only describing this company mildly.
But unfortunately, there is nothing one can do. Infact I looked into this
"sublet" surcharge, and both citizen advise bureau, and housing registra
dept says it is not within their jursidiction to over rule.
So unless someone BIG enough dig up dirt of this PLC, I am afraid we
all have to tolerate and seccumb to their ways and means of handling
us.
Another sucker of freehold management plc.0 -
This company will try and con you in to paying charges.
My advice is READ your lease, as in many cases the company is non entitled to charge these fees. They send out speculative demands for payment in the hope that some people will not read their lease but just pay up.0 -
