Some months ago I had a pop up on my PC that said I should download WinFixer to clean up and fix my computer.
Stupidly I did and now every morning I turn on my computer it starts loading and it totally slows my computer down.
I have let it run and it says I have x amount of errors and to fix them it will cost £x.
I have tried removing it from my PC and I can't get anywhere.
Can anyone help please???
Lisa

Hi Lisa,
ok to remove winfixer, press Start, control Panel, then press the Add and Remove Programmes, look for winfixer in list then simply press remove and It should remove it then its no more.

Thanks Katie
I have tried this before, but I thought I'd go through it again so that I can give a step by step guide to what happens.
I go to Add/Remove programs
I click on WinFixer and then click on remove
It says its uninstalling.
A pop up comes up with an uninstall questionnaire - sorry you're leaving etc.
Another pop up says that to remove completley you have to restart you PC - so I've tried restarting and not restarting.
Whatever I do the same thing happens. It removes it from my list of programs but next time I turn my PC on it's still there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's really getting me annoyed now - HELP!!!!!!!!!!0 -
Thanks espresso for your info.
I followed the instructions, downloaded spybot - which took forever, but it said it couldn't detect WinFixer.
I turned off my PC and put it back on again - hoping that maybe it had gone - but oh no, it's still there.
I guess I'm just going to have to live with it!!!0 -

There a three other hyperlinks on that page, what about following those?
Some people give up too easily! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
lisa76 .... I've not added anything as advice given already is, in the main, good stuff. Trouble is this thing keeps mutating. A fix may work today for one person but fail tomorrow for someone else.
If nothing else works do everything in the first 4 posts to this thread ....
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=133269
(but don't be surprised if winfixer is still around)
....then post a HJT scan report to this thead. We'll give you more recommendations on what to do next.
Best of luck.0 -
I cannot believe it!!!
I turned on my computer this morning, and NO WINFIXER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I didn't think I'd followed all your great advice - it was all quite technical, but obviously I had!!!!!
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will be careful what I download now.
Now I've just got to get rid of BEST OFFERS and it popping up all the time, and I'l be happy.
Cheers everyone0 -
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the "best offers" pop up usually takes quite a bit of fixing. It is rather persistent to say the least. This infection has been linked to AOL, Kazaa file sharing and other things but it could have some from almost anywhere.
Other offerings from the bunch of miscreants promoting this stuff include ABetterInternet, Nail/Aurora, ABetterInternet.DrPMon, Ace Spy nad VertiClick.
First things first. If you ever see an "uninstaller" purporting to remove it automatically from here.....
https://www.bestoffersnetworks.com/uninstall/
DON'T USE IT.
My advice is for you to post a HijackThis log here for more advice. Advanced warning though ... there could be a long hard road ahead.
Instructions on HJT are at the end of the first four posts here ....

Oh thanks for the info. I don't think I can face doing that until next week - my little brain is completley frazzled after getting rid of WinFixer, I can't cope with any more complicated instructions this week!
I have toyed with the idea of using that 'uninstaller' link before, but thankfully I haven't.
I think I must have got all this from using Limewire or something???!!0
