At last - someone who loves Debenhams as much as me and operates in much the same way! The bargains really are terrific and I'm pretty much stocked up for Christmas too. As regards returns, like FluffyFiFi, I'm always awaiting a new order therefore just give the returns to the courier and there's no problem. However, this only works because I'm in the house most of the time. If I wasn't at home, I can see that this would be a lot of hassle. The courier arrives at very unpredicatable times ie sometimes on a Sunday or late in the evening.

Hi, this is probably a stupid question but can I ask why do you search for 'outlet'?

Not a stupid question - because it then comes up with everything that is in the outlet section, i.e. their sale area.

I tried to buy a Dualit toaster from the Debenhams website when they had a sale on. I had a question as the picture didn't match the description and I didn't want to order the wrong one. Customer Services couln't answer my question, just read to me from the website. Suggested I emailed it to relevant people. I did this and in the days it took for them to reply, sale was over!!

Fortunately I was able to go into the store and picked up a bargain as I had the display model.

What I'm trying to say is that this experience has put me off. I think Debenhams have a lot of work to do winning customers back.

I am sorry but I am disgusted by Debenhams. For the second time in two months I have ordered only to be told a week later that items are out of stock. Even worse this time they sent one item, said two were out of stock, but the item they sent has two large holes in. They have lost my custom for ever. Hopefully they will learn.

I use to be a huge fan of Debenhams and adored their clothes both for myself and my children, but in last 18 months they have drastically gone downhill. Their website is a nightmare, it constantly crashes when a sale is on. They permantly have a sale on and market it as a "one week only" sale when it's just a load of jumble sale rubbish they can't sell.

If you actually managed to purchase anything during sale time then you have to keep your fingers crossed for days to see if you're actually going to get it.

Their customer service is the worst EVER, if you correspond by email you may if very lucky get a reply with the worst typing you've ever seen, they don't use spell check and write anything they feel like. On the phone it's not much better.

Recently their clothes have been really awful especially for kids, half of it I wouldn't pay 50p for.

So come on Debenhams get your act in gear!

I went to the Bristol Debenhams recently but it resembled a jumble sale. The place looked a mess, there was stuff all over the floor and everything was packed so tightly onto the rails that you couldn't look at it.

I had a gift card and would you believe couldn't find anything to spend it on that I wanted.

I noticed that you have an option on their online site to use a gift card but it asks for a pin number, where do you get this from . I thought it may be easier to get something online, although from the posts here who knows if anything will arrive, or if it will have holes in it or even be the right item :rotfl:

The other thing is if you want them to collect a delivery you have to wait in all day I was told, they don't specify morning or afternoon..

  • The web supplier has recently changed to the same company as Next and therefore the supply should be better.

Also, from early September, if you go into all UK stores (but not ROI), and they dont have your size, you can ask to use their new in store ordering point. This will look for the item on the web, and also in the biggest stock stores - ie Glasgow, Southampton - to see if it is in stock there. You can then place the order on this system and have it delivered to your home address.

The megaday sales are usually great and there is going to be one on 9-12th September - all the new Autumn styles will have money off!

The MSE email says 25% off everything

that's a bit slack - it's "UP TO" and it's not on everything
  • Hi all, I bought a Jasper Conran trench coat this weekend for £75, presume I can take it back and re-buy it if it is cheaper? I can see online it has been reduced to £60.

  • I have just bought 6 tops and 3 jeans for my daughter and 5 tops and 1 skirt for myself. I got 20% or 25% off everything! My daughter had virtually no clothes and I needed some winter clothes.

This was all from their new autumn stock and includes Pineapple hoodies, John Rocha tops, Dorothy Perkins tops, as well as Debenhams Casual Collection tops and jeans. We are both really pleased with our purchases and are full kitted out for winter now!

If you need some winter clothes anyway, then buy them now and get a discount. I usually shop in Next, but they did have really nice stuff in Debenhams and for the discount it was worth changing shops!
