I quite like Alan Johnson too ,but his rampaging belief in PFI turns my stomach.

Amazingly the only people I actually like and would like to see succeed Brown would be Clare Short, more chance of hell freezing over.

The only person really fit to run the country right now, I asserty would be Ken Clark, no one else has an ounce of gravitas.

Is that the sound of a barell being scraped?
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

    Harriet Harman then.

I can't think of a single one of them. I would like to have said John Prescott.

I believe though it will be Harriet.

ok, I couldn't cope with the thinking, but I have to say it, Alan Johnson really gives me the creeps. Its a very unintellectual response, and I appreciate his relevance in down turn with the strong connection with workers through previous work and the unions.

The only real intellectual reasoning that I can think of is that I think he's pro id cards? I'm not anti ID cards at all, its just, I'm not sure I like the idea of having them on me at all times, like, if I were to go running, or swimming ...or just for a dog walk, I don't want to take more than my keys on a string around my neck.

I've been a member of the Labour party since the year dot, and right now I have no confidence in the ability of any front or back bench Labour MP being capable of leading either the party or, fantasising Labour will be re-elected, a Labour government.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

That must be incredibly disillusioning for you.
  • Lets assume that Labour lose the next election. Who will take over as party leader will depend on who there is to choose from. Would anyone have predicted Hague as the successor to Major?

Its a theoretical question Rochdale. You can have your pick of anyone. If it helps narrow down you can pick a shadow/cabinet.

I'm really just interested in what people think and if they are reasoning (like Cleaver and Lynzpower) and why they think it, or if people are going with gutfeeling, possibly like errata? I'm not planning to hold anyone to it and jibe at the next election in your chosen candidate doesn't win his/her seat. :) This is a well meaning question, and I hope one that can be taken as so, particularly by Labour supporters :)
  • OK, in theory if Cameron gets elected and his Blair Mk 2 image stays popular, I think Labour will elect someone with a nice smile and no brain like Cameron and Clegg. Milliband seems ideal for such a task.

My reasoning was that there is no one, in any of the political parties that I have any confidence in. I hate Mr. Blobby, but if he was on a ballot paper with a reasonble chance of toppling the current lot I would happily tick his box.

So it wasn't an entirely pointless comment.. honest.
