Any ideas how to make a new door bell push work with the existing wirefree chime unit. we bought the correct bell push according to Friedland site but it won't work. Nothing on either bit of the bell to alter the frequency that I can see and of course I don't have the instructions now.

    Its an Friedland EVO wirefree.

I have a pvc door and got a cheap (under £5) cordless doorbell from Wilkinsons. It just sticks on the door casing. It works fine.

    ditto and it works fine

    hi, my first post!

i just wanna ask if anyone knows anything about door bells... the house i moved into recently (its 6yrs old) has a door bell that has the batteries missing. it needs 4 batteries, and i have tried all sizes from 9v, d, c. none of them fit, and i'm really confused....
It doesn't need this type of battery does it?

The bells I have seen that use these normally take 2 side by side.

its difficult to see with that pic, i think i need to measure it b4 i actually order any. its quite convincing because it says its for door bells (even though my house is only a few yrs old), so hope its this type!

    thanks for the info everyone!!!

If I remember rightly it was a friedland one that would not work with PVC doors!

Managed to get the door chime to work at last . A nice man emailed me the instructions as follows.

'Did you reset your chime before trying to use your new push? If not, hold the two music note buttons on the side of the chime in together for about 5 secs and it will begin to play through its available chimes. Let go of the buttons as soon as you hear this. Within two minutes of this, with the new push at least 1 meter away, press and hold it and the chime should respond in about one second. Let go then and leave the chime and push alone for a further 10 minutes to be safe. Then use it.

that's 2 lots of money saving this week, microwave tips saved me £50 and this saved me buying a new bell. Oh themoney saving power of the Internet.
