Help with Moorcroft/Orange/Carphone Warehouse

Hope this helps a little , one of my husbands friends actually works for moorcroft and she has told my husband about the training they recieve and how to use certain tactics to make people pay,she also told him of the doorstep calls and how much commision they earn.Although they threaten court action they dont actuallydo anything especially for low amounts of money it would cost them with very little if no chance of getting anything back.I wouldnt let this take up any more of your time and i realy wouldnt worry about it ,its not worth it:j
Is this true? If so then thankyou, you have just taken a lot off my mind!! :rotfl:
I am getting calls off Moorcroft everyday now, the last one beingg just 5 minutes ago from some very rude woman who said she was going to update my 'record' and say that i was blatently refusing to comply, which in a way i am but still, i told her that i had wrote to them and spoke with them on the phone about how the debt is in dispute and that OFT rules say that they may not harrass me for money until it is resolved, to which she replied 'who's harrassing you like?'.
I am currently receiving help from national debtline and I hae also taken my grievance with carphone warehouse to the financial obusdman (is that how you spell it) but if what you say is true and moorcroft wont do anything, especially seeing as how its not alot of money, do you think I should just do nothing?0 -
Keep all your statements Moorcroft are a nightmare. I never have dealt with such a sham of a company. In the end I had overpaid them by £700. I had proof of this by checking my records and I had tried chasing this up. I got threatening letters from them saying that I owed them £700. Was a nightmare I had proof of this but it just went around in circles. Everytime I thought they understood it was the other way around I would get another demand for money. Do not trust them.0

Good evening, Parki.Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.

Well they have been ringing everyday, always refuse to speak to them or hand over any details, i just want to get it through to them that they arent allowed to hassle me while i dispute the debt, i am trying to ignore them, i have enough problems but 'Moorcrap' are just making my life so much worse all for £280 i shouldnt have to pay0 -
Write them a letter and send it by recorded delivery to take your telephone numbers off their records and that you will only deal with them in writing. I had problems with them.. until I threatened to report them for harassment I kept every letter I sent and every one I sent them. They always say they have not got your letters and be prepared for them saying they have sent you letters which you never get. if they ring just keep hanging up they 'might' get the message.I am now debt free :j:jsince January 2009
but really need to learn how to save and budget to get some savings behind me :eek:0 -
Got this off Moorcroft on Friday. I don't know what it means though, i found it hard to take it seriously, just because of how unprofessional it looks but I'm uncertain as to what it means.

It means nothing but bluff and is solely intended to scare.
To prevent the "above action" = to prevent them from intending to prosecute. It doesn't mean they will, just that they will think about it.
"instructions to issue legal action against you may follow". Yes, they may. Like buying a lottery ticket may result in a win of millions.
Yes, your debt may increase as follows... Just like your bank balance may increase as a result of you winning the lottery.
The debt is formally in dispute (you do have a delivery receipt for the letter???) so they won't get judgement if they did stupidly proceed to court. Somehow, I don't think they will.BSC No 248

Create a spreadsheet, entering the amount of time & money you've spent so far on this.
You can claim an hourly rate of £9.25 per hour, not forgetting to add any stationary / phone calls / postage
Send them the spreadsheet including a fee for court proceedings, inform them, if they do not cease harassment whilst this debt is in dispute, you will sue them for the amount enclosed on the spreadsheet, oh, yes, inform them you will not enter into any further communication with them until the dispute is resolved.
Send by recorded deliveryClick here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.
All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional0 -
Just typed out a second letter of dispute that I intend to send to moorcrap informing them that they have clearly violated the OFT debt recovery guidelines and that they should stop harrasing me for money etc.
Could you let me know if this sounds ok before I send it.Moorcroft Debt Recovery LimitedP.O. Box No. 172 Spring GardensStockportSK1 4AJDate: 07/04/2009Client Reference: XXXXXXXX
Re: Alleged debt to Orange Personal Communications
Dear Sir/Madam,On the 05/03/2009 I formally disputed the alleged debt owed to Orange Personal Communications and requested that your firm cease any further attempts to demand payment of the alleged debt, this request has clearly been dismissed therefore you have violated the Office of Fair Trading guidelines regarding debt recovery practices by continuously telephoning myself demanding payment, such actions are viewed as harassment, in one instance telephone calls from your staff were made within minutes of each other after I had refused to discuss the alleged debt and said staff members refused to give me further details regarding the purpose of the calls. As a result of this I also hereby request that my telephone number be removed from your records and any further contact to myself regarding the alleged debt be sent in writing. Any further demands of payment will be disregarded until the dispute has been resolved and I strongly suggest that you comply. If said requirements are not met to a sufficient standard a formal complaint shall be raised with the Office of Fair Trading and I shall take further legal action against your firm regarding harassment.I have also included copies of my original letter of dispute, as well as copies of my dispute with Carphone Warehouse and Orange Personal Communications.0 -
