when a child moves out to another family member how long do tax credits run on

It has not annoyed me in the slightest, your post just seemed very odd. In one thread you are asking about claiming for another child then this time you are asking for advice when a child moves out. It just seemed strange that you would be on both ends of the system. That will hopefully stop any chance of an overpayment, if you are still paid anything I would keep it somewhere safe and not spend it. Just in case they still say there is an overpayment.0

I think that CHB can be paid legally to the person without care for 8 weeks, I am not sure whether Tax credits go along with this.
The person without care should give up their right immediately to the CHB so that the person with the child can get their CHB as soon as possible thereby enabling them to claim other benefits. I believe this is called the duplicate claim process.0 -
the other party have no need or wish to claim any benefits anyway! ( i am not suggesting we are going to commit fraud)
thank you for the advice
totallybroke I do not understand why it is so odd, a child moved into my care and then out of it, I just needed advice to keep my family afloat whilst we deal with this difficult and painful time.0 -
Your post seemed odd to me because you had already experienced this from the other side. Did you not find out from the child's parents how long they were still paid benefits before they were passed to you? How long did you have to wait to receive the extra benefit?
I'm not meaning to come across as unsympathetic in anyway, I'm just trying to explain why I thought your post was odd.
There are other ways to relieve the pressure on your family in the meantime.
Have a look at https://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html and post it on dfw. People there will be able to advise on ways of cutting back now to try and take some of the money worries off your shoulders. They can advise on the best way of juggling debt repayments and give advise on utilities and grocery shopping etc.
I am sorry if I have offended you or caused anymore upset to you, that was not my intention0 -
totallybroke I am sure that at any other time I would not of been so upset it is still a very sensitive subject at the mo thank you for your explanation, it is appreciated. there was no communication between us as ours is a very fractured family and the relationship between myself and the childs current carers is even worse than b4. the whole situation is a mess and very hurtful.
What is dfw?
and if anybody has any links to the info I need on how long we are entitled to ctc please.....0 -
totallybroke-the op's original post about the child moving in was back in october 5 months ago so why do you find it od that she is posting a change of circimstances now?
OP according to the CTC site, you are supposed to report the cahnge-ie the child moving out-within 1 month of the child moving, and the change of circumstances will be backdated to the date the child moved. It says nothing about any 'run on' of benefit however ask about it when you report. I have just had to ring them about somethig and got straight through so seems a good day to call!!!
I think dfw is the debt free wannabee board here on mse.Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0 -
SuziQ I have explained why I found the posts odd. I found it odd because, having been on the end where it took X amount of weeks to get the additional benefit. You would use the same time frame in assessing how long it would be to take it back from you. I also found it strange that there had been no communication between the parent/s of the said child and the OP as the guardian regarding this change over in benefit.
But as OP now says the family is very fractured and I did not push for that information. As I said I found it odd personally and I do not wish to upset the OP anymore than she already is about the situation.0
