Beware of Vodafone
I had posted this (post no: 1223) on 12-03-2009. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=627683&page=62
Vodafone offered me a Samsung Steel with this 18 month tariff.
250 mins + 100 texts
£25 less 50% = £12.50 x 15 months = £187.50
£25 x 3 months = £75.00
This amounts to £262.50
£50 cashback on my account = -£50.00
Total = £212.50
£212.50 divided by 18 amount to £11.80 per month.
I know some people have problems with Vodafone but I thought that it was a good deal WITHOUT any Cashback to worry about.
I was offered the above contract but upon receiving my paperwork today I have found that the lady who made the deal had put down the following:
Full price of £25.00 per month x 15 = £375.00
Half price of £25.00 per month x 3 = £75.00
NO £50.00 CASHBACK AS PROMISED
Totaling £450.00
Total £450 divided by 18 months = £25.00 per month.
On top of that she had added £6.95 per month for insurance.
She had never asked me nor had I asked for insurance.
I spoke to Vodafone and very nice young man told me that he's willing to cancel the insurance and revert the 15 month discount but he said he can not give the £50.00 credit.
He said that I should not have been offered that discount as the discount was only available last year.
Needless to say I've asked him that as I was within 14 days of my contract I wanted to return the phone and them to issue me with a PAC code.
I had liked the deal and I came over to Vodafone from Orange.
It's a pity that I had recommended Vodafone on the above thread.
SO I NOW URGE EVERYONE NOT TO TRUST VODAFONE.

I wouldn't go anywhere near them ever again.
I had to terrible dealings with them.
The first was about 8 years ago when i called up to have my international bar removed so i could give my brother in the states a call and straight away after i called up to have it put on.
The next month i had a bill for £2600!!!!!! When i called to question this they said that i had been making lots of calls to the states over the month even after i had called up to put the bar on. Sure enough Vodafone would not have any of it even thought they admit that i had called to have the bar on and they could see that it was on. They even had the nerve to send my account to a debt collection company and i had threats of court etc. On calling Vodafone they kept saying that i had to deal with the debt collection firm as it was nothing to do with them. I then called the debt collection firm up and invited them to take me to court and they did. On getting to court the judge asked my version of events and said that Vodafone had to provide all details of my complaints about the situation and only then did they admit it was a billing error!!!

Yep, they lie through their teeth. Then make sure you can't talk to the person who sold you the phone and claim they are not allowed to make such offers. I'm leaving vodafone too.0

I had written to Vodafone CEO at this address but he didn't have a courtesy to even reply. Vittorio.Colao@vodafone.com
However after sending back the phone I spoke to retention who tried to convince me to stay with them.
She offered me 50% discount (£25 = £12.50) for full 18 months. I told her "once bitten twice shy" so could she provide me with a written offer? After consulting her supervisor she said to trust her and that the paperwork will have full amount but my account will be debited with correct charge.
I said nothing personal but Vodafone has lied to me in the past so if no written confirmation is not received then I'm not interested. I asked for my PAC code and she said that it will be issued within next 5 days.
I then spoke to C/S to confirm that I will be charged pro-rata £12.50 per month for the 2 weeks.
What an experience!!!
KEEP AWAY FROM VODAFONE AT ALL COST.0 -
I agree with you entirely. I don't understand why their paperwork doesn't show what has been agreed by telephone - surely that would protect them as well as the customer. As I stated in my post my complaint to the CEO resulted in written confirmation that their discounts only ever apply for a maximum of 9 months but this information is not provided at the time of upgrade. I intend to take my complaint to Oftel to try to make sure that ALL the details of the contract have to be given preferably in writing.0

I've been speaking to different people @ Vodafone.
After returning my phone within 14 days I had asked for my PAC code.
The guy from retention asked me why I wanted the PAC code.
I told him of the trouble I had with Vodafone.
He said he can now offer me the same deal that they had originally quoted.
So I asked him to give me that in writting.
He said that he can only give me in writting after I agree first.
I again told him that I now do not trust Vodafone so without seeing in writting I'm not interested.
He refused so I said and he should send me my PAC code.
Then surprise, surprise I received the following e-mail the same day:
Mr xxxx

Sorry to hijack this thread but I thought this was the best place to put it. Vodafone are doing an offer on their site for a Free Nokia 5800, 600mins, unlimited texts and free vodafone mobile internet for £35/month with 10months half price which brings the whole thing to about £25/month. I've never dealt with vodafone before so am trying to find out how the 10months half price works i.e. is it redemption, immediate cashback etc but having no luck on the website and can't get through to their sales lines. I'm very tempted by the offer but it looks like a cashback redemption which I don't want to deal with and this thread has me a little concerned. Thoughts?
Mind you, the problems in the original post refer to an upgrade offer right? This is for new customers and is in writing on their website.0 -

Orange (via phones4u and quidco) are doing a free 5800, 100 mins, 3000 texts and free evening and weekend mobile internet for £15 a month for 24 months. £30 cashback through quidco.
Not as many mins and no peak time 'net, but might be a better deal if these parts are not so important to you?0 -

Well I just phoned up Vodafone and they said the deal is £17.50 for 10 months then £35 for the remaining 8. It averages out about £25/month and gives 600 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited internet and a fre 5800. I don't need anywhere near that allowance but the new phone is welcome as is the anytime internet. My only concern was whether it was cashback and since it's not I'm more inclined to take up the offer despite a few red flags about vodafone's quality.0 -
Just wait until you have any isues.
You will regret VF.
Personally I have been waiting for a call back for 6-7 months now.
Nobody takes ownership of an issue, they lie and then capitulate when caught out (when you point out who you spoke to, when, and the time- oh and also ask them if they want a copy of the recording)
I wouldn't go back to VF if they offered 17 monthe free on an 18 month contract. They have lost their way as a business - they need to go back to basics and look at what they were like 5 years ago.
Orange have done this and are whipping some others with customer service- to think I left Orange after 9 years and went to VF thinking I would get better customer service :rotfl:
Orange now have all customer service (contract) back in the UK- Vodafone CS never left (but their morals and professionalism did)baldly going on...0
