Hi,
I am wanting to get broadband at my girlfriends, it won't be used much just every so often, so its makes sense to use pay as I use. I was gonna use bulldog, but you have to chnage phone lines to them as well and thats a no go.
Any suggestions as to hows best?, cheapest?
Thanks

Dont think there is such a thing as pay as you go broadband. Most broadand contracts are for a min of 12 months. They say that this is cost of the investment in providing broadband is the reason, but i think this is just a line they throw you. Also they factor into the equation the cost of providing eh broadband modem. Although I dont use it and there are loads u can get off ebay and with everyone heading towards wireless networking, and that the modems most companies give you are usb, so useless for networking. One +ve thing about ntl, there broadband modem is usb and cat5. I
Yes with 'BT style' lines your line needs to be enabled for broadand at the exchange end and the exchange end needs to be enabled. A great website i have found to check if your broadband is enabled and which exchange you are located on. Find it http://www.samknows.com/broadband.
Therefore the best solution would be dial up. A good company is http://www.mipcards.com/ as they give a varitey of options so you can find the best on which suits your needs.
Also Tesco do a wide variety of dial up options, a bit more expensive of the unlimited/anytime package than mipcards, but some may be happier with a bigger name and you also get clubcard points...yay! But be warned with tesco, you can only install the software on 1 computer which is used to gain access to the net, so you can hop around pc's and use the account. However mipcards just give you an account and a phone number which you will be able to use on any comp, providing you now how to create a new dial up connection.
hope this helps.0 -
after a bit of research there are some broadband providers which dont tie you into a 12month contract, but i dont think still they provide what you are looking for. Also beware they seem to be riddled with lots of terms which mean they will be extracting cash from you should you want leave prior to 12 months after you started the service with them0
