Try http://www.pdfill.com/pdf_tools_free.html
It should do what you want without using other formats. Large download though.
IanHi everyone,
does anyone know of any freeware that will allow me to take a pdf copy from pages in a long pdf file?
I have a copyright licence for the file so I could print it and rescan but I wondered if there was an easier way.
The file contains lots of graphics so I dont think a cut and paste would work.
Many thanks

After a lot of searching some months ago I found Multivalent, which will do all sorts manipulations with PDF files including splitting and merging them. Better quality than Ghostscript (and anything that uses it).
It has only a command line interface, but requires only Java (standard edition).0
