BT Divert to mobile phones and overide providers

Hi

I have saved a fortune on my 'normal' calls by using 1899.com, now the largest part of my telecoms bill (over 60% of call charges) is for occasionally diverting calls to my mobile when I am out.

Has anyone found a way of doing this cost effectively? As far as I understand it the normal overide codes are not an option.

Thanks

David

  • You cant use call divert to send calls through a cheaper supply.

You could save 20% of your call charges to your mobile by nominating it as your BT Friends and Family,Best Friend.

Further savings could be made if you used primus saver 2 to get free E&W 01/02 calls.

If you have CPS on your line, the calls will go via that provider.

The only time diverted calls don't go via the CPS is when there is a repair divert, but then you shouldn't have to pay for those calls.
If saved £2710 and only spent the interest (Based on a return of 5%), you would have enough money to pay your TV Licence every year. Saving you £7452.50 over a period of 55 years, based on you buying a license from the age of 20 until your 75 at a cost of £135.50.

    Don't think so.

If you set up a divert, you program the incoming call handler's equipment to divert the call. That will be the line provider's equipment.

If you have a BT line and use CPS, you program the BT exchange equipment to divert the incoming call and hence, the divert is via the BT eqiupment and BT charge you.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I have CPS and diverted calls DO go via my CPS provider, but I can also divert via 1280 to put the call on BT. The fee for the call divert service is billed by BT. Diverted or dialled calls are not differentiated on my bill from my CPS provider (Vartec).

Yes if you make a call it will go via your CPS provider ,and if you prefix the call by 1280 it will go via BT. However the OP is diverting his call via BT Call Divert to his Mobile, and where you use BT Call Divert the call is always sent over BT.You cant use it to send your calls via an alternative carrier.

Not if you are using BT Call Divert!!!!

  • Oh well. I thought it was unlikely.

    Thanks for the answers.
  • From CPS phase 2 if you use call Divert and are currently CPS'd then the call will be pointed to your CPS operators network by BT.

You must however ensure that your CPS provider supports LDLI (last diverting line identity). otherwise the diverted call will fail or be billed incorrectly.

If your CPS operator does not support LDLI, you will need to prefix the divert number with 1280 and connect the diverted call over BT.

As is the way, you learn something everyday.

My husband went self -employed last year and has the same problem spiralling costs on his call diverts. I've read the previous posts but being new to this site - I don't understand the replies!! Are you saying savings can be made? and.....

What is CPS? & CPS phase 2 & what does the divert 1280 do? Sorry for being an idiot!

My husband was with BT but has moved to utilities warehouse.
