my BIL had a moben kitchen installed for 5k in a tiny terraced house.
    its just a joke.
he could have got all the units for 500 quid from BQ/wickes etc... and then paid someone 500 quid to fit it.

i still laugh everytime i see it.

Yes...agree with the general consensus... which is ......WAY TOO EXPENSIVE
  • Whatever you do, do not purchase from Moben. We had our kitchen installed last August. It is now nearly 9 months later and it is still not finished. They are excellent up until the hard sale is over and then they are absolutely rubbish (the hard sell by the way lasts over 3 hours) they usually come in the evening when you are knackered and you will sign anything to get rid of them)
The salesman/lady will tell you everything you can have in your new kitchen, but this will need to be confirmed by the surveyor. The surveyor will then call and measure up, he will then tell you that what the salesman told you is not possible and he will re-arrange things. When the installer comes, he will tell you he cant do things that the surveyor has told you and re-arrange it again. In other words, they let you believe you can have what you want and then let you down in steps. Their call centre is totally inept, one hand doesn’t know what the other is doing, or that is the impression they give!
After having tried hundreds of times to get the kitchen finished, I wrote to the chairman of the company….not even an acknowledgement.
The standard of workmanship is average, nothing special. All their rubbish is swept under you new units. We found it when they laid the floor.
One huge thing to remember is that they do not do tiling or flooring, but they leave it ready for you to do…..as if! Even their own plasterer who came to tart up the mess the installers had left, said it was a ridiculous situation. The walls should be made good before installing the kitchen, not afterward.
Hopefully they will go the way of MFI very soon.

Have a look at the Howdens stuff and get a local guy to fit. Howdens will do a free design and don't hassle to buy. It's all at trade prices to the local fitter so cheaper to get done. We had howdens send someone round and draft up 4 design layouts for us and ended up getting a gloss white kitchen with black worktops with large dishwasher, built in large fridge freezer, stainless steel 5 burner gas hob (wok burner in centre) stainless steel oven, and large glass ans stainless extractor/hood, also around all that we had 9-10 wall mounted cupboards, 8 floor standing cupboards, 6-7 drawers, mixer tap, stainless steel sink/drainer. Splash backs all round 8-9 meters, lighting in the two cupboards with glass doors, under lighters on all the wall units, 5-6 double chrome wall sockets, 3 chrome light switches, chrome cooker and dishwasher switches and some other bits n bobs all fitted in 1 week for £6,600 inc Vat. Also we had to buy 9 meters of worktop (included in the price) and had a couple of small sections left over.
  • Blimey, propus, that's a great price for that work. I've never heard of Howdens but will look them up. I had B&Q come out and quote me for a new kitchen last year, plus taking up carpet in dining room and replacing with tiles...£10,200. Dining room is 11ft x 8, kitchen 11ft x 6ft approx. I thought that was way too pricey.

I forgot I had an integrated wine rack fitted also which came with wooden drawers to hold 10 bottles and a metal rack which you could swap out for the drawers and would hold 25 bottles.

The dishwasher was relocated from one side of the kitchen to the other. The gas hob was moved from the corner of the kitchen to the middle of the longest wall. So a good bit of plumbing done too :)

Howdens should have a show room where you can view their stuff, but I think they only sell to trade and not the general public.

I'm in the middle of having new central heating put in through out the house and once the utility room is finished with the boiler, pipe work etc I'm going to get howdens round to design my utility room and have it match the kitchen. I would recommend them to anyone thinking about doing their kitchenm or utility room.

By best friend was looking into doing his kitchen up before he sold his house. He had settled on a B&Q kitchen fitted by them, but cancelled at the last minute after I told him to check out howdens and how much my mine had cost. He was surprised at how much B&Q were adding for fitting the kitchen. He was and still is very happy with the Howdens kitchen.

Are you on some form of medication? How exactly, can a 15mm carcase be described as awesome quality?
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands
