They paid me:eek: Glad to see the back of it. The OH cried as it was taken away ( silly sod) The bloody thing was a nightmare to drive having a manual choke didn't help matters. The kids today don't know their born as far as driving old cars are concerned. Give em one of them after passing their test and they would give up driving forever;)

Not quite that bad Phil, but close. I don't know whether anyone has had the displeasure of driving a Nova but the steering wheel is slightly offset, so you sit behind the wheel and your hands are over to the left. Bizarre;)

Anyway the bloke that came and got it, put a battery on it ( the original being nicked one night about 3 months ago) and b*gger me, it started on the first turn of the key, he then drove it onto the back of the truck. It has been sitting there through the coldest winter for years and it started with no fuss whatsoever.

I watched as the silver monolith dissapeared on it's way to it's new resting ground, knowing I had done my bit for the eco system by removing this ancient boy racer kart from the roads of Britain. RIP Nova, a boy racer from over the road shed tears as the silver beast was taken on it's last joyride.

Let it be written in History;)

Oh no not an Allegro!!!!!! surley one of the worst cars ever built. I had one too, what a load $%$££$%^%^&^ks that one was. In fact a cam belt went on a new one ( which is a record for any car) after 100 miles and the engine was caput;) Oh the joy of Cowley and Longbridge.

Happy days....although not so happy when the wipers went on the bloody thing & you had to dismantle the car from the inside out to get at the wiper motors

these days now though its all computers & sparkling garages.....mine spluttered to a stop a few weeks ago..the RAC came & 1ST thing he did was plug a laptop into the car....mad!

Really the Allegro should have been called the A Lego. Is it they who designed it? I have had them all, The Marina:eek: The Rover Metro:eek: another one similar to the Marina who's name escapes me. I do know that the model concerned fell apart in front of my eyes. The front near side headlamp cluster fell out while driving in the dark, closely followed by the front wing. What a night thaT WAS:eek: I know know after considerable thought on this matter the culprit was the Hillman Avenger, which in all probability was a Marina.

Oh the joys of carburetters , damp and dizzy's. And rust and more rust;)
