Me and Miss Jones

I have a date tommorow at 2 with the above mentioned.

I have not declared (SOA) the money around £8000 that my Mother lent me over the last few years. My mum does not want any involvement with the OR and does not want the money back ( She would of course like it back but she is not bothered).

My question is. Should I mention this outstanding amount or wait till they find out. I did pay some of the loan off (£50 a month) for a few years but my mum told me to forget it when things got tough. It may show up in the accounts, that I was paying her. I did stop paying her well before stopping paying the big boys.

My mum is 83 and she needs no hassle from the OR if it can be avoided.
She did lend me £5000 in one go 2.5 years ago to buy a franchise, the bank put up the other £8.5k. This franchise was a big mistake and if I had of stayed clear I don't think I would be on this board at this point.
However what's done is done;)

    bump!

    Hi hoos

technically she has to be included as you do owe a debt, and whether you mention it or not, she will be included as bankruptcy covers all debts whether the person who is owed the money is informed of it or not.

at least thats how I think it works, sorry if that's not much help to you.

I wouldn't mention it unless asked if you don't want her contacted. You could say that she has wiped the debt out - which is true. I always go on a need to know basis and if they don't ask they don't need to know.

  • I agree I would not mention it unless asked of course.
  • So, HOOS, what are you planning to wear? I've been trying to decide whether to put a suit on or would jeans and a shirt be okay? What a dilemma!

Firstly thanks for the bump Donna xx and thanks to my learned friends for the advice

In answer to the above question. I will go naked. It is after all a phone call:rotfl:

If however it comes down to a F to F I will wear by bank robber costume;)

Phil has a good photo/ image of me in disguise.;)

I would say corduroy trousers and a M & S jumper with a red shirt may be a responsible asset in these sort of meetings. This is based on my unprofessional opinion of dealing with government figures;)

Jeans and a shirt would be just fine.

  • I can manage an M&S jumper over the top, but it's a bit of a scorcher down south this morning!

  • I believe you can only put down provable debts down
  • I am preparing some paper work for the call. I will give a debrief of events later in the day. Just my luck as some pre BR bills have arrived this morning, with some up to date figures for the dear lady. I have my lever arch file at my side and other relevant documentation on the ironing board, a few feet away.

I know I may miss something but I am sure they can find it if they wish. On another note BT have sent me a letter and they owe me £21, any ideas on what I should do?;)
