If you live in a Sure Start area you can get free radiator covers.

    thanks for that, quite interesting.
  • I've found the best thing was to tell our son off when he went near them (he is now 4) and we've started to do the same with our baby, obviously you are going to go round to other houses and they won't all have covers, it's hard work but you get there in the end

May sound cruel - but they learn from experience....if a child touches a radiator while its on - they wont want to do it again. Saying that - i dont remmber my son(4) evr touching a radiator/oven/rayburn. Always done the 'ouch, hot' mesage! My 1 yr old is a bit more in to evrything but still hasnt intentianally touched anything hot.

My nephew also gets told off if he tries to touch or goes near a radiator / oven etc.. Generally his mum or granny pull a face and do the 'ouch, hot' message as well.

I've been to the Sure Start site - how do you find out about funding for safety improvements?
