Calling abroad [How can I do this]
Hi,
I am looking for cheap international calls and after going through many options I just wanted to ask if someone has done this before or anything like this then hopefully it can help everyone here.
I have noticed that the cheapest mobile calling solution is from 1899 and that goes to 3p/min.
I have noticed that simply-fone provides a 077 number to call international desinations.
My question is "Is it possible to register on 1899 and use SF 077 number to call abroad for only 3p/min"
Another question is if it is possible to use VOIP services to call 0844 number. I have checked with voipcheap and sister sites but they dont allow calls to 0844 saying "Unfortunately calls to this number are not possible at this time".
My concern is about price.
I have vodaphone (contract) and orange (PAYG) and I was using the orange unlimited weekly calls to call 0844 (but they have discontinued the offer). If anyone knows about anyother way out to call 0844 or SF 077 number..your help is really appreciated.
Many Thanks

It was a useful idea, but unfortunately all the Finarea companies have recently blocked 07744 numbers.
There are VoIP providers that can call 0844 numbers, but not free, and not cheaper than from BT.
You might look at using an O2 payg SIM with the inclusive minute packages, or maybe even an O2 contract, which include both 0844 and 07744. There are still some other Orange Extras.
But don't go overboard in looking at only these callthrough numbers. There are other methods as well, like 1899 etc ...0 -
On the orange pay as you go you can still call 0844 / SF number from it.
if you buy one of the extra packs (not the unlimited ones) (net result 3p a minute) you can call 0844 using the minutes. Or about 4p a minute can call SF number. Also someone said on other thread that if you top up by £10 a month you get 600 free minutes to orange / landlines which you can again use to call 0844.0 -
I dont think its 3p. The cheapest is 4p/min but still worth.iceburn wrote:if you buy one of the extra packs (not the unlimited ones) (net result 3p a minute) you can call 0844 using the minutes.iceburn wrote:Also someone said on other thread that if you top up by £10 a month you get 600 free minutes to orange / landlines which you can again use to call 0844.
Can Anyone assure that 600 minutes include 0844 numbers. I am in doubt cause I have 600 minutes but they are in evenings and weekends. I will try it in evening today but if it doesnt work....

The cheapest way to call a mobile from a landline is 2p a minute at weekends .( 4p connection) https://www.18185.co.uk But that does not allow you to call 07744 numbers.PF.0

No for 0844 it is 3p
http://www.orange.co.uk/service_plans/payasyougo/extra_costs.html
weekend voice Extras
amount of talk time cost validity
60 minutes of calls anytime to mobiles and landlines in the UK £2 (3p per minute) 7pm Friday to 7am Monday
150 minutes of calls anytime to mobiles and landlines in the UK £5 (3p per minute) 7pm Friday to 7am Monday
About the 600 minutes. I don't even know if it exist, so can't comment if it work. (if it does exist is it open to anyone cause I know a couple of ppl who would be interested.) Also would it be included or not from what I gather, 0844 is class as standard landline on orange pay as you go. (on contract it is not.) So therefore it "should" come out.0 -
Go for o2 contract - o2 offpeak 1000 usually is a 12mth deal on most websites and lets you call 0844/0870 from the free minutes

don't know if it is still going on but there was even a company offering the o2 offpeak 1000 minutes, new phone on a 12 month contract after cashback for free.0
