poor quality Clarks school shoes

I bought a pair of school shoes for my 6 year old the other day. The very next day it had scuffs on it....Is it within my right to get a refund or replacement as it failed to meet my expectations. Any thoughts anyone?

    get the lawyers onto it:rolleyes:

I think its very unlikely you can put this down to faults, and more an active 6 year old.

Sorry to say but kids scuff shoes and it is not a defect in the shoes.

If this was the case i would be living at the clark's shop replacing my kid's shoes all the time.

  • You have my sympathy. Clarks shoes have gone down hill, and they don't just scuff, they wear right through in no time at all. Last time I was there and mentioned this I was told I could take them back with the receipt and get them changed.

I am also less than confident in their fitting skills, they just ask what size the child is in at the moment and I have a feeling they then just flog you the next size up, needed or not.
Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x

That is the fault of Britons, not Clarks. It would be wonderful if retailers could go back to the days of employing British or Italian craftsmen and sell quality products and service for a fair premium. Unfortunately shoppers would rather pay peanuts for dross. The one or two customers who want that service can not compensate for the tens or hundreds of cheapskates who don't.

    I'll give it a go.....

Everybody else, thanks for ur comments.....It's just that , when one pays 32 quids on a pair of shoes, you'd expect it to last atleast two weeks.....

It's possibly just that the shape of Start Rite fits your child child better than Clarks. One of mine has long, slim feet and has always worn Start Rite, as Clarks just don't fit her. My younger daughter, however, has more average feet, and Clarks suit her.

I have to say that, I too, think that clarks have gone down hill. When my daughter was born (she's nearly 13 now) they had a policy not to put children into shoes until they really needed them saying it was much better for them to walk around bare foot. Now they seem to do shoes from pretty much birth upwards.

I don't think that scuffed shoes is a reason to return them unless you feel that the damage is disproportionate to the child's actions. I discovered that my youngest was scuffing her shoes crawling around the playground being a 'baby'. After a severe talking to, her shoes, though scuffed, remained in a far better condition.

My gripe is these shoes with the b!**!y toys in the heels. I tried to get ones without them but there were only one or two designs and neither fitted. I now find that the inner soles are creased and no longer sit flat. I can't believe that they are supporting my child's feet correctly. It's not as if she puts the toys in and out all day everyday as she isn't allowed to take them to school and they now live happily upstairs in the dolls house! I am going to take them back and complain but as I can't find the reciept, I don't know what they will say. I might write to clarks HQ too.

    Anyone else experience this problem?

  • My gripe with Clarks was that most of their staff who work at weekends are teenagers in a Saturday job.....each time we have bought shoes under these circumstances, we have had to return within 1 - 2 days with a child with blistered feet! No longer use Clarks's as the whole point was to get shoes that fitted properly.
