Moving out of school catchment

My daughter is currently in Reception and will go into Year 1 in September, I’m moving out the town that daughter goes to school in April but intend on keeping her at her school as her child minder lives round the corner and so does her dad.
Would the school have a problem with her moving? Also I understand that I have apply for Junior school in a couple years would they refuse her a place then if we are still out of the area?
I would really appreciate anyone’s advice on this.

As far as I am aware the School can't do anything about you moving out of catchment and it doesn't sound like you only moved into the area to get a place.
Where I am, places at a my linked junior school are virtually automatic if the child attends the linked infants, so hopefully you wouldn't have a problem getting in, even if you are out of the area.....but you may want to check with the LEA.MFW 2019#24 £9474.89/£11000 MFW 2018#24 £23025.41/£15000

our secondary schools will not allocate places to children outside the catchment area - this is strictly policed. It depends on your lea - look at the secondary schools website, they usually have an admissions policy on there.0

Hello
As far as I'm aware your daughter should not lose her place at the school if you are moving - I am not sure what you mean by junior school (do you mean middle school?)
If the junior school is linked to her current school she should automatically be given a place.
Best thing contact you LEA for confirmation on this though0 -
Thanks everyone for your really quick responses!! Her Junior (middle school) is linked but I have noticed signs up in the school about them having to fill out forms to apply so this worried me. I looked on my LEA website but it wasn't very helpful! As far as I can see it doesn't look like its a problem so I can stop worrying - I'll soon find something else to worry about!!0

I think the forms are a formality more than anything. Also, infant schools have to stick rigidly to no more than 30 in a class but junior and middle schools can go over this so even if more people apply to those, they can admit linked schools first and still have room for other pupils if required.MFW 2019#24 £9474.89/£11000 MFW 2018#24 £23025.41/£15000

bunty109 - thanks for the advice that's useful to know.
I really didn't want my daughter dispruted any more than she has already been recently, having moved out of the family home when I split from my ex-husband last year and now I can no longer afford to live near her school but for her sake want to keep her there.0 -
If you have younger children they may not get in on the sibling card. DD's primary now has the catchment criteria before the sibling one.0

If you and her dad have joint custody (even if you have most of it) then if he lives in the catchment area I would imagine that would strengthen your case0

Please bear in mind that things can change almost overnight in school admissions..... what happens now may not be happening in a few years time - it will probably depend on the number of children needing places and this can change from year to year. My DS's are exactly 2 years apart - DS1 had 29 children in his class all through from Reception to Y6, whereas DS2 had 42 classmates :eek:2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
