Clamped at my GYM!

Hi guys,
1st time used this forum, looks pretty call.
Reason for post - I am a regular user of my gym which i pay £35 a month for (JJB). On Friday - I needed to pick up some contact lenses up from the opticion which is about 200 yards away from the gym. I parked in the gym car park, ran over to opticion, picked up lenses, ran back & low & behold my car was clamped! I can't have been more than 15mins.
I paid the £60 fine & rang up the comany to complain. The guy on the other end was ok & agreed it was pretty unfair & told me to send an email & it sould get sorted.
Email came back this morning saying them's the rules & no refund would be issued.
Do I have a leg to stand on to take this any further?
Thanks.

Contact the gym, tell them what happened and say if you do not get a refund you will cancel your membership. If they try and say the clamping company is nothing to do with them, point out either they employed them, in which case they ARE responsible for their actions, or if they know nothing of the clamping company you will be reporting the clampers to the police for unauthorised clamping, and you will require the gym to put in writing their statement.0

Thanks for the replies.
Yep I'm going to the gym tonight & to say I'll be cancelling unless refunded. I told some of the lads who worked there & they were as appalled as me.
The lad clamped me was only a kid who seemed a bit clueless & he was basically following orders. Said that carpark was for gym use only.

I hope you get your money back but basically, you knew beforehand that yu were parking illegally, you werent going to the gym, you were going for contact lenses. You should have been sneaky and gone into the gym first to make an enquiry about something and told them your car was outside for 10 minutes. That would probably have covered you. But - your own fault I'm afraid.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

The OP hasn't said that he wasn't going to use the gym.
And he wasn't parked "illegally".
Do you have any useful information about clamping for the OP, at all?0 -

He did give you a receipt with his SIA number on it, didn't he? Have you checked it on the SIA website?0 -

He didnt say we was going to the gym either. His wording suggested that he wasnt, (why was he running?)
he parked, went to the opticians
went back to the car. (if he had been going to go to the gym he would have gone in at this point and complained about the clamped vehicle.
Illegally was maybe not the right word. If he was going to the opticians
he was not entitled to park in the gym car park.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
