Income Based JSA

Can someone tell me how Income Based JSA is calculated?
I have been told I can claim Income Based JSA even though I work 12 hours a week although this can vary from week to week.
So if I am claiming just for me will my weekly salary be deducted from the single persons amount (£60.50) and what happens if one week I earn more than this amount?
TIA

Yes your weekly salary will be deducted from the single persons benefit amount but there is a disregard of £5. After that it is deducted £ for £.
If you earn more than this amount (incuding the disregard) you will not be paid any JSA.0 -
Thanks for that.
As I don't get paid for any shift that I don't work (apart from shifts booked off as holidays) and sometimes I can get offered extra shifts, my pay can be variable - what would happen in this situation ?
Would the authorities just take my usual pay or would they take an average?
The other question I have is that there is a possibility that I have been offered another part-time job but although it would be less than the 16 hours needed to be on JSA, I would be over if the 2 jobs were taken into consideration. If I dropped the 12 hr job in favour of this potential job - which would take me over the single person's allowance - would I still be classed as being on JSA even though I wasn't receiving any payment?2014 Target;

Why would you want to work less hours in order to claim JSA. If you worked more than 30 hours you could claim WTC.0

They would take your pay for the week in question, they will not take an average.
If you earn more than the JSA amount every week your claim will stop.0 -
I wouldn't be though - the part-time job that I potentially may have would only be for 15 hrs a week.2014 Target;

Im wondering this myself or similar. I'm going on to income based soon. Partner works 20hrs a week self employed but comission only. Last month she got £145 and only £70 the month before. So they've asked for last 3 months wage slips from my gf. What will they base our weekly payments on. And how often will they ask for wage slips from gf. Any help appreciated as benefits all new to me.0

12 hours at £5.73 = £68.76, which is more than JSA at £60.50 even after a £5 earnings allowance.0
